Northern Prospectors Association
The NPA is one of seven regional associations affiliated with the Ontario Prospector's Association which was developed in 1987 to create a province wide lobbying group on policies of concern to the mining industry.

The Northern Prospectors Association is comprised of various members of the mining exploration community. Most members are prospectors and geologists who work in the Kirkland Lake area. Members receive a monthly newsletter published in association with the Ontario Prospectors Association. Topics covered in the "Explorationist" include the environment, computers, land use issues, mining law and political commentary.

The executive and other volunteers participate in a variety of activities including membership on several local and provincial committees. Guest speakers and short courses on topics such as geophysics, geology and gun safety help keep members up to date with rapidly changing technology and legislation. Community involvement is also important to the NPA. Tourists and locals alike enjoy the NPA gold panning events. The relationships between the history and geology of the town are related in a walking tour brochure produced by the association.

Through a wide network of affiliated organizations, the NPA has been a strong voice for the industry and the community in both Ottawa and Toronto. The motto "Dedicated to Canadian Prospecting and Mining" illustrates the organization's goal of enhancing the economic viability and the quality of life enjoy in northern Ontario.
