Goldstrike

Oct 14, 2014

The Goldstrike Complex is located on the Carlin Trend, the most prolific gold mining district in the Western Hemisphere, about 60 kilometers northwest of Elko, Nevada. The Goldstrike operation includes the Betze-Post open pit mine and the Meikle and Rodeo underground mines which are located just north of the Betze-Post pit, along the same mineralized trend.

The Betze-Post pit is a truck-and-shovel operation using large electric shovels. Meikle is a high-grade ore body which is mined by transverse longhole stoping, underhand drift and fill mining methods. Rodeo is a further extension of the mineralization found at Goldstrike and is a trackless operation, using two different underground mining methods: long-hole open stoping and drift-and-fill.

The Goldstrike Property consists of two processing facilities: (1) an autoclave circuit, which is used to treat the property’s non-carbonaceous sulfide (refractory) ore; and (2) the roaster, used for treating carbonaceous ore (not suitable for autoclaving). These facilities treat ores from both the surface and underground operations.

The Goldstrike Property produced 892,000 ounces of gold in 2013 at all-in sustaining costs of $901 per ounce1. Goldstrike’s proven and probable mineral reserves as at December 31, 2013, were 10.7 million ounces of gold2.

In 2014, the mine is expected to produce at the high end of the guidance range of 865,000-915,000 ounces of gold. All-in sustaining costs are expected to be at the low end of the range of $920-$950 per ounce1. In 2015, production is expected to exceed 1.0 million ounces3 with contributions from the modified autoclaves.

Thiosulphate Project

The autoclave facility is undergoing modifications that will enable Goldstrike to accelerate the cash flow from about 4.0 million stockpiled ounces through the addition of a thiosulfate process. The modified autoclaves are forecast to contribute an average of 350,000-450,000 ounces of annual production at a similar AISC to the overall operation in the first five full years following implementation of this process. First production is on track for Q4 2014.
