Demonstrates Leading Edge Technology That Makes Timmins a Major Global Gold Centre
The Canadian Mining Expo 2015 is establishing itself as a mining trade show of global significance as this year it welcomes representatives from India’s mining sector as its honoured guests.
Glenn Dredhart, the President of Canadian Trade-Ex, the organizers the Canadian Mining Expo 2015 introduced the shows community partners at a news conference at the McIntyre Community Centre Ballroom. The partners are Mayor Steve Black, Mayor of Timmins; Christy Marinig, Timmins Economic Development Corporation; Cory Robin, Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund; Bill McCrae, Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association; Tom Laughren, Lake Shore Gold; Dan Brazeau, Levert Personnel; Christine Heavens, Northern College; Paul Woodward, The Bucket Shop; and Ken Stewart, NORCAT.

The Big Event 2015 Welcomes A Delegation from India Headed by Akhilesh Mishar, Consul General for India
The Canadian Mining Expo 2015 or the Big Event as it is often called takes place May 27 and May 28 at the McIntyre Community Centre. A Gala Dinner is held on the evening of May 26.
On the opening day Wednesday May 27, 2015 the visiting delegation from India led by Akhilesh Mishra, Consul General of India, Dharma P. Jain, the President of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce and Rajesh Sharma, President of Tata Steel Minerals will address a forum on the Ontario India Mining Exchange. Also on hand to address the forum will be Rod Thomas, the President of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada representing the Canadian mining industry.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome our honoured guests from India,” said Glenn Dredhart, President of Canadian Trade-Ex,” they have an emerging mining industry and the Big Event is a perfect place for Canada, Ontario and India to exchange our skills and our know how.”
The delegation from India will participate in a forum hosted by the Ministry Northern Development and Mines about business opportunities in the Indian mining sector for Canadian mining services and supply companies.
Representatives from the Ontario and Canadian governments will explain how to apply for export licensing and existing programs that are designed to facilitate export development. This part of the expo is an open to business event and once you register for the event you will have access to the sessions.
“In the last hundred years of mining experience we have developed the expertise in gold mining and also in deep underground mining that can benefit miners around the world,” Dredhart explained.
One of a kind Junior Mining Exploration Camp Demonstration
New for 2015 is a unique Junior Mining Exploration Camp that is being held in partnership with Syracuse Gold, a junior company that is making its lands available for this unique demonstration. Those who register for the Junior Camp Experience can either helicopter in to the Syracuse site or take a short bus ride to the site located about 10 minutes away in southeast Timmins.
Mayor Black Commends Canadian Trade-Ex and Its Partners
He also note the importance of the Canadian Mining Expo to Timmins' economy.
"It is very important to our economy," Mayor Black said, For example in terms of hotel rooms, I don’t think there is an empty room anywhere between Timmins and Kirkland Lake. In terms of economic impact it really is significant as it draws people from all across the province.”

Christy Marinig, Executive Director of the Timmins Economic Development Corporation explained why her organization is involved actively with the Canadian Mining Expo
“We think it is an exemplary example of how the private sector can draw people to a community," she remarked. " We actively promote Timmins as a mining hub, it has 28 operating mines and the Canadian Mining Expo is important because it allows people in the mining industry a chance to meet suppliers and network with people they may want to partner with,
This Marinig emphasized the importance of having the delegation from India involved in the Big Event 2015.
"We worked with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines and Canadian Trade-Ex to sponsor the Indian Delegation," stated Marinig. " One of the reasons we are involved is that we want to showcase our local suppliers and to expand their business potential globally."

The third annual Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund Aboriginal Mining Forum is a must attend program at the Canadian Mining Expo 2015.Cory Robins, the Business Development Officer said that important contacts and exchange of information and knowledge are key reasons for the success of the Aboriginal Forum. This year the keynote speaker will be Grand Chief Lawrence Martin, of the Mushkegowuk Tribal Council. Speakers will include Mary Boyden from Goldcorp and Leonard Richert, from Detour Gold.

Partners in Educational, Training and Recruitment Services
Three partners in Canadian Mining Expo 2015 provide educational, training and recruitment services. Dan Brazeau, represented Levert Personnel, an employment and recruitment company that specializes in mining employment. Also present was Christine Heavens with Northern Collage, a post secondary institution which offers courses in mining industry disciplines through its Haileybury School of Mines, in Haileybury, Ontario. Ken Stewart represented Northern Ontario Research Centre for Advanced Technology, a research driven organization that also provides hands on training in mining. Bill McCrae from the Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association was also on hand to explain the highly popular prospectors course that provides an introduction to prospecting a vital component in the discovery of new mineral sources for future mining.
Investing in Northern Ontario Mining
The Exploration, Investment and Geological Seminars will feature an informative session on mining in Northern Ontario. Topics that will be addressed include: An update on junior mining and exploration in Northern Ontario; Access to transportation and electricity for the Ring of Fire. Representatives from mining companies in production and junior mining companies will be on hand to discuss the state of their operations and ventures.
Dr. Scott Jobin-Bevans, Chairman and CEO, Caracle Creek International Consulting Inc. (Canada). Topic to include “A perspective on the value of junior exploration companies assessing opportunities in India".
Returning from previous Canadian Mining Expos will be the crowd favourite Northern King Jackleg drilling competitions featuring the ever popular Northern Ontario Mayors Challenge; the professional miner’s jackleg competition and the women’s novice invitational competition.
Air Liquide Welding Competition
A new mining skills competition will be added this year, with the Air Liquide welding competition highlighting the importance of welding to the mining industry.
