Fatality at Vancouver-based Asanko Gold Inc. Project in Ghana

Vancouver-based  Asanko Gold Inc.announced the death of a contract worker at its Asanko Gold mine in Ghana on June 24, 2015.

 

The accident occurred in the morning of June 24, 2015 as the contractor wasengaged in mining activities. No further details were provided of the circumstances or the nature of the work the employee was doing,
The Asanko Mines announced it was deeply saddened by the news and expresses its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Asanko Mines officials said that the incident was immediately reported to the relevant regulatory authorities who have conducted an initial inspection and have given clearance for work to resume.

A full internal investigation into this incident is underway and a comprehensive review of both the mine and the contractor's operating and health and safety procedures is also being conducted.
