Mining Show Brings Sudbury's Mining Expertise to the World

The North America Mining Expo will be returning to Sudbury for the second consecutive year running from August 18 to August 20 2015 announced Glenn Dredhart, the President of Canadian Trade-Ex which this year will host the event at the McClelland Community Centre Arena and the adjacent curling rink in Copper Cliff.

Sudbury is the largest concentration of mining expertise anywhere in Canada and the world.  

“When you get this type of concentrated expertise on display,” said Glenn Dredhart, the President of Canadian Trade-Ex, “you will be given access to the best and most innovative manufacturers/suppliers/service providers who all have ideas and solutions to your mine related issues. “

Dredhart was joined at the announcement by 12 partners and sponsors of the North America Mining Expo.

government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed laws governingmining in India with the hopes of introducing deep mining technology and techniques to India that were developed and perfected in the Sudbury basin.

Trade Show Featuring The World’s Largest Mining Cluster

Over three hundred exhibitors will be on hand to demonstrate their products and technology developed in Sudbury, th the world's largest concentration of mining and mining supply and services experts.

Conference on Modern Mining Technology – Forum for Mine Leaders

A conference titled Modern Mining Technology will held at the McClelland Community Centre in Copper Cliff, Special Guest Speakers will be invited to speak on New Technology that will increase the mines productivity and efficiency. Mining companies will address suppliers & technology enablers on today’s challenges within their operations. Exploration, mine development and the environment, and those who are developing cutting-edge mining technologies are welcome to attend. The conference runs August 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McClelland Arena Hall.

Glenn Nolan V.P. Noront Resources Speaks at Goodman Lecture Series

Glenn Nolan, V.P. of Noront Resources, the leading mining development group in the Ring of Fire will be speaking at the Goodman School of Mines Lecture series that will be held at Dynamic Earth also in Copper Cliff, Wednesday night August 19 at 7 p.m.

Glenn is a member of the Missanabie Cree First Nation located in North Eastern Ontario and served as Chief for three consecutive, three-year terms. He serves on many not-for-profit organizations in Canada and internationally; and advises foreign governments on policies related to indigenous people and resource development. In 2013 Glenn was recognized with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for his many years of volunteerism. Currently, Glenn is Vice President, Aboriginal Affairs, for Noront Resources and is a board member of a publically traded diamond exploration company. He is the immediate past president of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, the first Aboriginal person to hold that position. 

Underground Mining Tour at NORCAT Training Facility

Tours will be available at NORCAT’s underground mine training facility, a fully operational mine in Onaping Falls, 40 km north of Sudbury on August 19-20 N.A.M.E.
Tour Time: 9:00 a.m. (Departure from Trade Show site) - 12 Noon (Arrival back from tour)

The Northern Centre for Advanced Technology (NORCAT) plays an innovation broker role in helping companies bring new and innovative technologies into the mining sector to solve real and complex problems. There will be live demonstrations, tours of NORCAT’s operating mine. The Technology Testing Centre brings provides companies with a world-class innovation and testing centre in a real underground environment to meet the specific needs of the mining industry. This state-of-the-art facility is a fully operating mine with nearly 3km of underground drifts located in Onaping, 40 kilometers north of Sudbury. The mine serves as the perfect location for facilitating research, prototype development and testing in an actual underground mining environment without interrupting mine production. 

Jackleg Drill Competition

The ever popular jackleg drill completion will be held on Wednesday August 19th, 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the McClelland Community Centre in Copper Cliff. Sponsors: Boart Longyear Canada, Tracks & Wheels Equipment Brokers and Canadian Trade-Ex.

Gala Dinner

Things get started on Tuesday night August 18, with a Gala Dinner at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Sudbury. The dinner will provide ad networking opportunity for members of the mining community, and the mining supply and service sector. It’s sponsored by Modern Mining Technology Sudbury and features a night of comedy with Bill Sanders.
