Nordex Explosives Ltd. (Nordex) is a Canada-based company. The Company is engaged in manufacturing and distributing explosives for the mining, quarry and construction industries. Its manufacturing operations and distribution centre is located near Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The Company holds various mining claims covering 529 hectares in the Township of Melba located 22 kilometers north of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

 

 

Officers and Directors

 

Jim Taylor - President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Taylor, was hired on April 2003 as a consultant. He completed a strategic plan for Nordex Explosives Ltd. then went on to implement it as plant manager. Sales in 2003 totalled $0.9 Million. One year later sales reached 2.4 million and have continued to grow ever since, with $10.8 Million over the last 4 quarters. Jim is responsible for development and implementation of key processes. The most important being a complete line of emulsion product which is both cap and booster sensitive. He has also supervised portable pumping units, human resources, health and safety, preliminary audits of statements, production, manufacturing and transportation.

 

James O'Reilly - Chairman

Mr. O'Reilly has an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo.  He has over 40 Years of experience in the explosives business.  From 1998 to 2001, he was senior vice-president of North America for Orica Limited, the largest explosives company in the world.  Orica is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:ORI).  Since 2006 he has served as a director and is presently chair of the audit committee of New Island Resources Inc. and from May 2008 to January 2010 he was chairman of the board and chief financial officer of Prominex Resource Corp., both of which companies are listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.  Hie is past president of the Explosives Association of Canada and a member of the Canadian Institue of Mining.  Since 2005, Mr. O'Reilly has bee president of Baumgarti & Associates Limited, a mining consultant firm.

 

Peter Crossgrove - Director

Mr. Crossgrove is the former Chairman and a founder of Masonite International Corporation, a door manufacturing company, and a director of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.  Mr. Crossgrove holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario.  He is also a Sloan Fellow of the Doctoral Program at Harvard Business School.  Mr. Crossgrove is a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal, a Member of the Order of Canada, and a Member of the Order of Ontario.  Mr. Crossgrove is currently the Executive Chairman of Excellon Resources Inc., a producer of silver-lead and silver-zinc concentrate.  Prior to January 1993, Mr. Crossgrove was Vice Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Placer Dome Inc.

 

Thor E. Eaton - Director

Mr. Eaton serves as the Chairman of Notae Investments Ltd.  He has been a Director of Excellon Resources Inc. since August 08, 2011, as well as Director of West Timmins Mining Inc. since September 13, 2006.  Mr. Eaton serves as a Director of Metaris Inc. and has been a Director at Lateegra Gold Corp. since October 14, 2010.  He has served as a Director of Attwell Capital Inc. since March 2005 and has served as an Independent Director of Band-Ore Resources Ltd. since April 15, 1996.  Mr. Eaton has also served as a Director of T. Eaton Co. Ltd. from 1973 to December 1999.  He has previously served as a Director of Citation Resources Inc.  He currently serves as the Chairman of the Eaton Foundation.  Mr. Eaton created the Thor E. and Nicole Eaton Family Charitable Foundation, which has contributed to the livelihood of hospitals, environmental groups and Canadian cultural institutions, such as the Royal Ontario Museum, St. Michael's Hospital, the National Ballet of Canada and the Atlantic Salmon Association.

 

Joseph Hunnisett - Director

Mr. Hunnisett is a graduate of Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario in 1981 with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree.  He is a Chartered Accountant and has worked with Clarkson Gordon (now Ernst & Young).  He has worked with several large manufacturing and distribution companies in a variety of serior financial and executive positions, including Corporate Controller, Director of Manufacturing, CFO, President & CEO.  In 1992, he joined ETI Explosives (a former Dupont Company) and served for nine years as President & CEO.  He also served on the ETI Board of Directors from 2000 to 2006.  In 2006, Joe founded Ercott Capital Inc. and has served as its President and CEO since incorporation.

 

Leo Luciani - Director

Dr. Luciani is a medical doctor with a practice in Tecumseh, Ontario. Dr. Luciani and his partners run three medical clinics (St. Anne Clinic, Essex Medical Clinic and the Tillbury Family Clinic) together they employ a staff of 75 to 95 employees.
