Established in 1999, MineARC Systems is now the global leader in the manufacture and supply of emergency safe-refuge systems to the underground mining, tunneling, and chemical processing industries.
Emergency refuge forms an integral part of an underground mine, tunnel or chemical operation’s wider Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Fires, explosions, rock-falls, flooding, and the release of smoke and other forms of toxic gas are the types of industrial incidents that occur all too frequently, despite the high levels of planning and safety precautions in place.
In these types of emergencies, when evacuation is no-longer safe or practical, emergency refuge is designed to provide a safe and secure ‘go-to’ area for personnel to gather and await extraction. MineARC refuges have been successfully used around the world in multiple mine and tunneling emergencies to save lives.
Inside a standard MineARC refuge chamber a number of vital life support systems combine to create a safe and secure ongoing environment for occupants, including; oxygen supply, carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) scrubbing, artificial cooling (air conditioning) and digital gas monitoring.
Today MineARC has offices and manufacturing facilities in Perth, Western Australia; Santiago, Chile; Beijing, China; Johannesburg in South Africa and Dallas in the United States, as well as a strong distribution network worldwide. In total, MineARC refuge chambers are deployed at operations in over 40 countries.
All MineARC Refuges comply with the highest international industry regulations and guidelines.
MineARC HRM refuge chambers, for ‘hard-rock’ (metal / non-metal) mines, are the only models in the world to comply in full with the West Australian Department of Mines & Petroleum (DMP) industry Guidelines. They are also European CE and Australian C-Tick certified.
MineARC's patented CoalSAFE refuge chamber is also the only model in the world that is built to US MSHA 2009 'Final Rule' (Refuge Alternatives in Underground Coal Mines).
MineARC is also the only refuge chamber manufacturer in the world with an ISO: 9001 quality rating.
MineARC was the Winner of the 2010, 2012 and 2013 West Australian Exporter of the Year Awards, and the 2013 International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) award for Leading Safety Initiative.
