About the Company

We, the owners of SLUICE Incorporated, are from Sudbury, Ontario, where mining is a large part of our community. Our grandparents, parents, uncles, cousins and brothers have been rock mining since the mid 19th century. With many hardships, strikes, ailments, countless hours and shift work, Mining becomes part of you. The wives and the children of these working men see the energy and passion these men put into their work when they go in the dark underground. The people of the Greater Surrounding Area of Sudbury are all passionate about the trade of mining just as others families and communities across Canada.  This is where the passion and thoughts came from when we decided to create SLUICE. It is a clothing company that will be producing T-shirts, sweaters, long sleeves and hats with the special Miner’s logo we created. Jason Levesque is the artist behind the idea, he is also a miner and has been working in the field since his early twenties. We would like to help represent these hard working men with our miners face logo, pics logo and sluice name. 

Why SLUICE

 

it has a meaning in the prospecting and function of a miner that dates back from the earliest history of human interaction with gold. Gold was the first metal widely known to our man. When thinking about the historical progress of technology, we consider the development of iron and copper-working as the greatest contributions to our species' economic and cultural progress - but gold came first
