About the Company
The MVDF is an independent Métis owned and controlled corporation, founded in 2011, that provides funding and support for resource or related sector Métis businesses.
1. We are here to support Métis entrepreneurs
2. Businesses where at least one of the owners self-identifies as Métis and holds 50% or more of the business can access support through the MVDF
3. Currently MVDF can only finance businesses engaged or related to the resource sector, start-ups and expansions
4. Our mandate and structure permits us to provide more financing, at lower interest rates and with fewer restrictions than commercial lenders such as banks and credit unions
5. The MVDF can offer on-going support for developing business plans and accessing professional assistance and on-going training and skills
6. The MVDF seeks to maintain its loan capital base in order to strengthen the Métis economy through Métis owned and controlled business
7. The Ontario government is committed to provide the MVDF with 30 million dollars over 10 years and the MVDF is working towards obtaining a similar commitment from the Federal government
