About the Company

A HISTORY OF PROGRESS THAT BEGAN IN 1914 AND CONTINUES TO BE WRITTEN

In 1914, E.A. Wilson opened Ingersoll Machine & Tool in a small Ingersoll factory originally built to produce soap. Thus began a journey through time marked by passion, commitment, innovation, integrity and growth.

Originally, Ingersoll Machine & Tool specialized in manufacturing steering gear assemblies for boats and cars. By the early 1930’s, IMT made the steering gear assembly for every Canadian-built Ford, Mercury, Dodge, Chrysler, DeSoto, Plymouth, Hudson and Nash car produced.

Driven by a passion for excellence and fuelled by the success it creates, the company expanded by leaps and bounds and, in 1947, IMT evolved from a privately owned enterprise to a public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The next major shift in ownership occurred in 1970 when Ivaco acquired a majority interest and provided the means for major expansion. IMT achieved a major milestone in 1981 when it was awarded a 10-year, $100-million federal contract to produce large caliber ammunition shells. That contract enabled the company to purchase PC Forge shortly thereafter and, with assistance from the City of Ingersoll, IMT built a large new manufacturing complex the following year.

The ensuing years were characterized by continued innovation and expansion. And as capabilities grew and became more diverse, so too did the ability to meet the needs of customers in the transportation, OEM and Defence industries worldwide.

Ours is a history rich in success and achievements, and it’s a history that we will continue writing in the years to come.

LOOK BEYOND DATES AND FACTS AND YOU SEE A HISTORY STEEPED IN CULTURE AND VALUES.

From the day the doors opened, passion, hard work and ingenuity have driven those at Ingersoll Machine & Tool to excel.

At that time a culture was created, in which hard work was recognized and creativity was cultivated. An environment in which teamwork and loyalty grew from the realization that together, we create something bigger and stronger than anything each of us could be individually.

That culture of passion, ingenuity and excellence continues to this day and is engrained in the values that guide our actions and decisions.

OUR CORE VALUES FORM THE CORNERSTONES OF OUR ORGANIZATION

Our values define and differentiate us. They form the solid foundation of the strong and lasting client relationships we are privileged to have. They are intrinsic to everything we accomplish, both collectively and individually. In all things we value:

• Enterprise – We cherish the entrepreneurial spirit and endeavour to attract those whose ideas are innovative and unique. And we will continue to provide the resources needed to pursue new ideas and opportunities that will ultimately propel us forward.

• Passion – Passion is an advantage because those who enjoy their work excel naturally. Passionate individuals have a positive influence and their enthusiasm serves as a catalyst for change and progress.

• Integrity – We always do what we say we will do. We deliver our ideas with unwavering honesty because we understand that predictable integrity builds trust, which is the best foundation for long-term growth and prosperity.

• Ivnnovation – The discovery and novel thinking that characterizes our past also defines our future. As manufacturers, we design, engineer and create products that must evolve and adapt through time so our thinking must always be one step ahead of the curve if we are to continue to be successful.
