An intern (typical 10-12 week, full-time schedule assignment) position is a temporary assignment with 3M's Health Information Systems (HIS) Division Student Programs. 3M HIS Student Program is designed to provide 3M HIS with the opportunity to identify qualified candidates for regular employment, and to provide students with the opportunity to integrate their academic knowledge with work experience. As a Student Programs participant you will develop skills, and gain work experience in your field of study.
This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.
Typical assignments may include the following activities:
The 3M PPS Data Analytics intern will apply and develop their coding, data management, data visualization, evaluation, and analytic skills as it relates to healthcare data. The intern will fulfill payer and provider requests for analysis of their data with a primary focus on payment and population health management programs and solutions. There will also be an opportunity to develop analyses in the MicroStrategy business intelligence environment, conduct statistical analysis of healthcare data using R programming, and develop reports using SQL and Excel. The 3M PPS Data Analytics intern should have an interest in data analytics, particularly as it applies to population-based healthcare.
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in statistics, public health, computer science, math, business from an accredited university
- Must have completed your sophomore year (minimum 4 semesters of university curriculum) by date available to start internship
- Current minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s and doctoral degree candidates are encouraged to apply
- R programming and/or other statistical software (SAS, SPSS, Stata) experience
- MicroStrategy report, document, and dashboard development experience
- Basic understanding of statistical concepts and experience with statistical software packages
