150th Anniversary
On May 16, 2021, AIME will celebrate its 150th anniversary. We will mark this notable occasion with the installation of a plaque at Lehigh University depicting the strong ties between the two organizations, especially at the beginning of their legacies. We will also replace the 125th-anniversary plaque in the town center of AIME's birthplace, Wilkes-Barre, PA, with a 150th-anniversary plaque.

We will also hold a Board meeting, history talks, and take industry-related field trips in the local area. Please join us in honoring the past by forging ahead.
Customized celebrations at Member Society annual conferences will include special keynote speakers, cake and champagne toasts, and commemorative gifts. Many thanks to SME/TMS and SPE, respectively, for creating special items for use at the Member Society events, including:
- A banner stand "History Walk" and companion booklet depicting the rich legacies of the organizations
- A video highlighting AIME's historical timeline, praising the institute's and member societies' milestones, and connecting the audience to how instrumental AIME has been to its industries and beneficial to its members, their profession, and society as a whole.
