Big-Hearted Dumas Employees in Timmins and Area Donate More Than $15,500 Worth of Gifts for Local Children

TIMMINS, December 18, 2012 – Dumas is very proud to recognize its employees in Timmins and Kirkland Lake, Ontario, for having generously donated more than $15,500 to purchase Christmas gifts for 115 local children in need. The gifts will be distributed under the auspices of North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) as part of an annual Christmas fundraising campaign.

This marks the fifth year that Dumas’ Timmins-based employees have partnered with NEOFACS for this deserving cause. In 2008 the team arranged for 10 gifts, and they have since provided hundreds more with a record high total this year, all thanks to the kindness and effort of employees, their families and friends.

As in years past, Dumas employees got spirited with a little friendly competition, challenging mine crews from various sites to see which could raise the most funds. Beyond the workplace, for many employees the campaign was also a family affair. Entire families pitched in to shop for gifts, while a very thoughtful child even asked his parents to donate money to the campaign in lieu of receiving his own Christmas gifts this year.

“This campaign is all about bringing joy to deserving children, and it’s also about our employees working together towards a great cause,” shared Julie Genier, Dumas’ fundraising campaign lead in Timmins. “Most of us can provide what our children need and want, and to be able to help other parents do the same gives us a warm and fuzzy feeling that makes this so worth it.”

Liane Guenette, Volunteer Coordinator at NEOFACS, expressed her gratitude to the Dumas team, adding that, “The employees have fulfilled approximately 20 per cent of our gift-giving needs for local children this holiday season – which is incredible. Many of the children we provide gifts to may not have any other presents under the tree come Christmas morning, so this will bring a lot of happiness to them and their parents.”

Dumas' Timmins employees, accompanied by representatives from North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services, surround a sea of presents that will be given to local deserving children this Christmas.
