Academic Advising

The Advising team is committed to providing you support and service during this public health emergency. At this time, we will be working remotely and available to assist students via email.  We encourage distance students to reach us as distanceadvising@nipissingu.ca and our on-campus students at advising@nipissingu.ca. We will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience as there may be a delay.

Undergraduate students who wish to plan their programs or who need advice on any academic matter should consult an Academic Advisor. This may include, but is not limited to: planning for degree programs, choosing courses, and clarifying academic procedures or regulations. The Academic Advising Office also determines students' Second and Dual Degree Requirements and considers students' Overload and Letter of Permission Requests.

 

How to connect with an Academic Advisor:

 

Walk-In Appointments in Office A207  

On-campus students who would like to discuss their academic situation with an advisor can visit our walk in hours Monday through Friday.  The sign up sheet is available at 8:30am with the first student called in at 9:30am and the last at 3pm.  Walk-in appointments are best for longer discussions, however students who have quick questions can reach out to us via email at advising@nipissingu.ca.

 

Distance and CPP Students  

Academic Advisors are available to speak with Distance and CPP students on Monday and Thursday afternoons.  Students can sign up for these same day Academic Advising Phone Appointments (formerly Online Drop Ins) Monday and Thursday mornings from 9 am to 11 am.  The appointments themselves are held between 2-4 pm that afternoon.  Students can sign up through the link in WebAdvisor under “Communication” called: “Academic Advising Phone Appointments”. Phone appointments are best for longer discussions, however Distance and CPP students who have quick questions can reach out to us via email at distanceadvising@nipissingu.ca. 

 

Students are responsible for ensuring that the courses in which they register meet the degree requirements of their programs.
