Filters FAQ's

Mar 13, 2014
After 17 years in this business, we have learned how to apply our solutions to wide array of clients. There are questions to be addressed from new clients, and of course we have them based on the results our solution provides.

Here are some of the questions we get on the road to building a solid relationship with new clients.

Q. What about my warranty on engines, hydraulics and equipment in general?
A.  By pass filtration will not have any negative effect on your warranties. In fact due to how efficiently it removes contaminants and water, you will have fewer claims than ever.

Q. What if the filter plugs up or freezes?
A. Because it is a by-pass system, it will have no impact whatsoever if you neglect to change the filter element or if it freezes due to high water content.

Q. How will I know if it is working?
A. There are many ways you will see the results.
• Where you would see milky looking hydraulic oil due to water content, that oil will remain as clear as new due to 100% removal of water.
• Engine oil will still be black, but will be a lot less pulpy when you pull the stick. This is because soot levels are reduced from highs of 5 or 6% down to 1%.
• Oil analysis will clearly show a dramatic decrease in grit levels from highs of 24 / 18 down to 14 / 10 ISO cleanliness levels.
• Upon start up, valves will not hang up due to varnish in the oil; the by-pass system removes varnish and other contaminants down to a 1 micron level.
• You will see valves, motors, pumps, engines, last longer due to how clean the oil will be kept. Instead of seeing peaks and valleys resulting from current methods of changing oil when dirty and replacing with clean oil, your systems will be working in clean oil all of the time. Changing oil will occur when the oil analysis indicates it is time.
• When you put your hand on it, you will feel the heat as a result to it being connected to an engine or hydraulics.

Q. How does the use of by-pass filtration fall under the GREEN umbrella?
A. Because when oil is kept clean, there is no need to change and dispose of it. If you extend the life of your engine oils by 1X, you will purchase and dispose of 50% less oil. In the case of hydraulics, the example if more dramatic as you can keep hydraulic oil years and in some cases for the entire life of the equipment.

Q. Why do I need by pass filtration; the equipment comes with factory installed units?
A. Because all of those filters are full flow filters with varying degree of grit removal.
• All of these filters are also full flow filters with an automatic by pass built in due to the danger and corresponding equipment failure as a result of a filter plugging up.
• These filters also do not remove water.

Q. Doesn’t oil break down over time?
A. Unless oil is exposed to high heat, is allowed to become contaminated with grit and other undesirables, or water over long periods, it remains in usable condition. Water is the basis acids, no water = no acids which deplete the additives package in the oil.

Q. Why do the OEM suppliers demand such frequent oil changes in engines, transmissions and hydraulics?
A. With equipment spread out as far as it is, they have no real way of knowing how equipment is being maintained.
• They require oil analysis reports in the event of a warranty claim.
• If the oil analysis report shows a clean bill of health of the oil and the equipment itself, what business is it of theirs if you have extended the life of the oil?
• Parts usage is what keeps many of these players in business. Whether it is CAT, or Cummins, or … take a look at their earnings picture and the ratio of parts Vs. new equipment and you will see why there is an aversion to extending part life.

The bottom line is, we are offering by pass filtration as a method of increasing our worth to you, our valued customers.

By using oil analysis to verify that our installations and sales of by-pass filtration are in fact helping your equipment perform better and for longer, you will see that we are  valued partners in your business.
