EOT Update

Jan 18, 2021
Ahniin Chimnissing,

Our community situation regarding potential Covid19 infections remains high and is serious. As a result, our lockdown will remain in effect until we have a handle on our current situation and data demonstrates effective management of this community crisis.

At present, we have data suggesting up to 27 persons in our community potentially connected to positive cases. The chances of community spread is great if isolation protocols are not followed. If you have been contacted by Beausoleil Family Health Centre as a possible contact, please follow the self-isolation protocol provided.

To ramp up testing, a mobile community assessment centre will be set up this week, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Event Centre. It is suggested and hoped that all community residents take the time to get tested to ensure you are not asymptomatic and are unknowingly passing this viral infection.

Administration offices will be closed until further notice. Please email any departments if you need to connect with staff during the lockdown. Email is being monitored by managers and urgent requests will be responded to and essential public works departments continue to function.

Ferry service will remain on a reduced schedule. A pass system will once again be implemented to reduce nonessential travel like last spring, this will be in effect as soon as the lockdown has been lifted. As reminder travel should be for essential needs only.

Our health staff are being stretched beyond their limits. Please be patient if seeking medical assistance for other needs. I would like to personally thank our healthcare workers for their hard work during this extraordinary time. This is a health emergency, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their efforts in our community.

We also need your cooperation. Let's all participate in stopping the spread by staying in place. Follow all prevention safeguards recommended. If you are feeling ill, please self-isolate and make arrangements for testing. Wear a mask, sanitize often and stay home. Do not gather outside of your household group.

Daily updates will continue.
