The Colombian Mining Association - ACM represents explorers, producers and providers of goods and services related to the mining sector present in the country and dedicated to the generation of a responsible and sustainable mining of gold, coal, nickel, emeralds, copper, materials of drag, industrial minerals, limestones and brickyards, among others, a source of important linkages and development opportunities for the Colombian regions.
 
Services
 
The affiliated companies in the Colombian Mining Association - ACM, have a union that will represent them before the different public and private instances to promote in a unified way the interests of the industry and its growth through:
 
  • Permanent dialogue with government entities with incidence in the mining sector and monitoring of the plans and programs of the industry as a whole.
  • Management before international, national, regional and local entities to address industry sector issues for the benefit of the mining business environment.
  • National and international representation of the sector to address issues of the Pacific Alliance, trade agreements, labor and social security agreements, bilateral chambers and alliance with world mining union peers, among others.
  • Facilitate direct contact of managers or technicians of affiliated companies with government representatives according to the business objectives of each company.
  • Analysis and construction of initiatives from the sector regarding current legislative, economic, environmental and social issues, among others, that respond to the needs of the industry, without distinction of the volume or service to which the company is dedicated.
  • Permanent advice on technical, legal, environmental, economic and communicational issues, among others, through specialized personnel.
  • Promotion of technical, economic, social and environmental studies that allow the objective and technical defense of responsible mining.
  • Promote through the union training days (forums, workshops, seminars, congress) for the affiliate and publics of interest (journalists, public servants, among others) on strategic industry issues.
  • Timely communication on the main mining business events in Colombia by providing representative data, reports and news from the sector.
  • Participate in the internal committees of the union to address conjunctural and strategic issues that allow promoting consensus on proposals or union positions.
  • Distribution of information on industry-related events and regulatory news, as well as legislative issues of interest to the business sector and of specific interest.
  • Support in the distribution of information of your company destined to the companies affiliated to the union and other public according to objective.
  • Permanent promotion of well-made mining with technical, economic, social and environmental arguments, among others, the source of Colombia's development.
 
Committees
 
ACM has work committees, which are a fundamental part of the management line drawn and the achievement of the union's strategic objectives, among which are:
 
  • Legal Committee
Formed by the legal teams of the companies affiliated to the ACM, its purpose is to analyze and promote the adoption of public policies for the development of the sector, advise on the solution of legal problems that affect the execution of mining projects and provide legal inputs to the Association for the sake of seeking unification criteria for the improvement of mining processes.
 
  • Communications Committee
The objective of this round table is to ensure the position of the responsible mining industry as the engine of development in the country's regions and to analyze the appropriate strategies to maintain a positive reputation of the sector before public opinion and interest groups.
 
  • Environmental committee
The committee will seek to offer advice on environmental management and policy, through a comprehensive task before the environmental authorities in search of a clear technical regulatory development that protects the environment efficiently and drives the development of the industry. Specifically, topics such as environmental licenses, analysis and comments on the temporary and definitive subtractions of forest reserve areas, moors, environmental guides, compensation, among others will be worked on.
 
  • Exploration Committee
Formed by the technical teams of the companies affiliated to the ACM, the objective is to generate technical inputs and comments on public policies that are under construction by the competent authorities and to strengthen the adoption of good practices within the industry.
 
  • Economic and Tax Committee
It is a space for discussion and analysis of the economic impacts on tax, commercial and other issues that affect the competitiveness of the mining sector to establish public policy proposals that allow the sustainable development of the sector.
 
  • Sustainability Committee
The Sustainability Committee aims to coordinate so that the activities of the mining sector are increasingly sustainable, strengthening dialogue with different stakeholders and incorporating initiatives and good practices. The Committee will work on the construction of a viable sustainability strategy in times and actions for the country and for companies and is made up of the representatives of the companies in charge of social issues and Corporate Social Responsibility.
