Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association

Mike Grant was elected to the Board of Directors in April 2017 following his retirement from the Ministry of Northern Development & Mines where he spent 32 years in various roles with the Ontario Geological Survey and the Mineral Development Group.

Mike has degrees in chemistry & geology and experience in exploration for a variety of base, precious and energy minerals. He is NWOPA's representative on the Local Citizens Committee (LCC) for MNRF's Lakehead Forest. He resides in Thunder Bay.

Rudy Wahl
Vice-President
Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association

Rudy Wahl was elected to the Board of Directors in April 2018.

He has worked in Mineral Exploration since 1989 staking claims, prospecting, optioning properties. In 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association (NWOPA).

April 2015, he received the Bernie Schneider’s Discovery of the Year Award for 2014. This award recognized
his discovery of a potential high-grade Niobium - Phosphate deposit in the Prairie Lake area.

On June 03, 2017 Rudy received an Honorary Doctor Degree of Science from the Lakehead University Thunder
Bay.

During his prospecting work he has showed exceptional resourcefulness in familiarizing himself with ore deposit
geology and advanced mineral exploration techniques. Of significance to his success as a prospector is that he
has assimilated all of this knowledge without any formal education in these areas or employment with a major or
junior mining company. One result of his work ethic is that has obtained status within the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines Sudbury as one of the most productive prospectors in the Province. Currently, he is a
member of the Ontario Prospectors Association, NWOPA and the Prospectors and Developers Association of
Canada.

As a community service, Rudy has led field trips to his properties for geologists with the Ontario Geological
Survey, faculty, graduate and undergraduate students from Lakehead University. Several Lakehead undergraduate students have completed B.Sc. thesis work doing research on some of his mineral properties.

Ruth has found multiple gold and other precious metal showings in Ontario and other provinces.
