Steve Filipovic, Chairman of the Board of Directors
Steve is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 19 years' experience with financial management and reporting, M&A, and international risk management, taxation and structuring. Steve has been with Premier Gold Mines Limited since its inception in 2006 and currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Premier Gold, Steve held senior finance and director roles with several listed mining companies including Zinifex and Premier's predecessor Wolfden Resources Inc.
Steve holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree and practiced as an Audit Manager with Ernst & Young LLP in their Oil and Gas group prior to entering the mining sector and was appointed Chairman of the Greenstone Gold Mines Board in March of 2017.
John Begeman, Member of the Board of Directors
John is a Professional Mining Engineer with over 35 years of mining experience. He is currently the Executive Chairman of the Board of Premier Gold Mines Limited. John also sits on the boards of directors of Yamana Gold Inc. and Aberdeen International. He has previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Avion Gold Corporation from 2008 to 2012, as the President and Chief Executive Officer and director of Valencia Ventures Ltd. from 2008 to 2010, as the Chief Operating Officer of Zinifex Canada Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and as Vice President, Western Operations of Goldcorp from 2000 to 2006. In his capacity for Goldcorp, he was responsible for its surface gold operations in South Dakota and the Industrial Minerals Division in Saskatchewan. Previous to his employment at Goldcorp, John held various engineering and management positions with Morrison Knudsen Company in the contract mining operations group throughout the Western United States.
John holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering, a M.S. in Engineering Management and a Masters of Business Administration degree.
Gordon D. Reid, Member of the Board of Directors
Gordon is a Professional Engineer with over 30 years of mining experience. He is currently Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Centerra Gold Inc. with responsibility for Centerra’s mining operations and development projects. His experience includes open pit and underground mining operations, base and precious metals, and senior management roles in project development, business development, and operations. Prior to joining Centerra Gold, Gordon worked for BHP Billiton PLC (Rio Algom Ltd.), Placer Dome Inc., and Noranda Inc.
Gordon has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Manitoba, (1994) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Michigan Technological University (1981). He is registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
Darren J. Millman, Member of the Board of Directors
Darren is a Chartered Accountant with over 18 years of experience in financial management, auditing and the mining industry. Darren joined Centerra Gold in 2013, was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in April 2016 and was appointed to the Board of Greenstone Gold Mines in July 2017. Prior to joining Centerra, Darren was General Manager Finance and Company Secretary at Ivanhoe Australia from 2007 to 2012, where he gained valuable experience with listing Ivanhoe on the ASX and TSX and led the financing activities. From 2000 to 2007 Darren worked with KPMG as Senior Manager in Canada and held several progressive senior roles in Australia and the U.K., predominantly working with mining and construction corporations. From 1997 to 1999, he worked as an Accountant for Hall Chadwick in Melbourne, Australia.
Darren holds a Bachelor of Business, Accounting from Victoria University (1999) and also has a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance from the Institute of Chartered Company Secretaries of Australia (2010). He is registered as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.
