The primary responsibility of the Economic Development Program is the delivery of programs and services to band members and local businesses as well as organizations. Constance Lake First Nation understands that its future as a self-governing and self-determining community requires that it position itself advantage of economic opportunities within the community and throughout Constance Lake First Nation traditional territory.
 
The Economic Development Program has played a role in most of the community’s development projects.

Key Objectives
 
  • Business Development
To create the conditions under which both local and regional business initiatives can prosper, taking into full consideration the cultural uniqueness of aboriginal clientele and simultaneously enriching the local economic social environment.
 
  • Skills and Training
To increase employ-ability capabilities within Constance Lake First Nation through the development of local human resources through various means, including, but not limited to, specialized training opportunities which will counter the skills shortage problems of the community and also meet the demands for training from community members.
 
  • Employment Creation
To create employment opportunities for interested Band members in all sectors and to decrease barriers to employment, bringing into existence conditions which will permit acquisition of meaningful practical work experience and also meet the manpower demands of employers.
 
  • Wealth Creation
To create a medium by which clients of the Economic Development Program will be encouraged to pursue their goals.

CONSTANCE LAKE TELECOM
 
Constance Lake Telecom is a community owned and operated wireless internet, phone, and and cable network. Its goal is to provide quality and reliable high speed Internet service to the community with video conferencing capabilities for business and medical purposes, including diagnostic services from medical services located outside the community.
 
Constance Lake Telecom receives its feed from a 500 MB bandwidth within its head end at the community radio station. It currently provides high speed Internet service by wireless system to approximately all households and business/institutions in Constance Lake. It is 100% owned by the Constance Lake First Nation and managed by the administration office.
 
CONSTANCE LAKE DEVELOPMENT LP
 
Constance Lake Development LP is responsible for any all economic development planning and business development for the benefit of Constance Lake First Nation. Constance Lake Development Incorporation is working towards the improvement of social and economic conditions through the development of community-owned businesses.
 
Community-owned businesses can make a positive contribution to our community by:
 
  • creating jobs
  • creating wealth or income from profits that can be reinvested in community priorities including supporting the development of community ventures and projects.
  • Our first priority is to focus on the community ventures, the botton line is that in order to succeed and be sustainable, Constance Lake Development Inc. needs to maintain an acceptable balance between employment and revenue generation for all projects we undertake.
  • Constance Lake Development Inc. takes a very proactive approach to economic development, ensuring we do not become a responsive organization reacting to issues as they arise. We ensure proper processes are in place to address concerns before they become real issues that can negatively impact the organziation. We make an honest effort to be well-informed and meet the needs of the First Nation in the areas of economic development and employment creation.

MAMMAMATTAWA CAMP
 
Constance Lake First Nation owns the facility that we use for cultural and traditional uses located where four majestic Northern rivers meet, Mammamattawa Camp is just 80 miles (128 km) northwest of Hearst, Ontario at the English River Post near Hudson’s Bay.

Cultural Support Band Representative

Under the Direct Supervision of the Band Representative, the Cultural Support Worker is responsible for promoting and ensuring that families receiving child welfare services are delivered in a manner which is both respectful of and congruent with the culture of Constance Lake First Nation. 

Community Support Band Representative

Under the direct supervision of the Community Band Representative, Constance Lake First Nation requires a Community Support Band Representative for Child Welfare to advocate/represent registered/affiliated with First Nation members that are involved with any/all Child Welfare Agencies throughout Canada. 

Band Representative Office Assistant

Under the direct Supervision of the Community Band Representative, the Band Representative Assistant will provide assistance to the Band Representative Program in prevention, intervention awareness and administrative services to the community members of Constance Lake First Nation.
