Community & Family Services believes that holistic healing and wellness rooted in a strong cultural foundation will empower families and community to achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle. We are located on the Upper level of the MASK Arena and our hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are some evenings that the office will remain open for programs and groups.
 
Mission
 
To develop, promote and implement a holistic approach to support the health and well-being of our families and community.  We strive to provide a safe, nurturing environment by offering programs and services that meet the needs of our people.

  • To continually improve our partnerships through open communication and education to better serve our families and community.
  • To provide new and innovative opportunities to enhance skills and personal development.
 
Programs And Services
 
Individual, Group, Couple and Family Counselling – Experienced counsellors work with all ages.
 
Children’s  Support & Services – We have on-call staff who can provide support at any time of the day and become actively involved to assist with any child welfare concerns or crisis.
 
Court Support and Advocacy – Staff will attend Family/Criminal court and will assist with filing forms.
 
Alternative Dispute Resolution Circles – A team will assist with out of court situations and problem solving.
 
Addiction Counselling and Support – Groups and individual services for those struggling with any addiction.
 
Biidaaban Restorative Justice Support – A program that encourages an individual to take responsibility for one’s own behaviour with the support of a caring community.  Biidaaban is about being accountable to oneself, family and community, as well as making restitution to those who have been harmed.
 
Youth Restorative Justice – A service offered for youth who are currently in the court justice system and require support and additional lifestyle skills. This provides an opportunity to make better choices by attending programs and specific counselling groups.
 
Mental Health & Wellness Services – Assist with referrals and Assessments for Adults/Youth & Children.
 
Weekly Men’s & Women’s Traditional Sharing Circles – Offered weekly.
 
Weekly Youth Circles – Offered weekly after school for grades 6, 7 & 8.  This is a prevention program which provides a time for youth to seek an understanding on bullying, peer support, relationships and more.
 
Building Healthy Relationship Programs – A 14-week program offered to assist with relationship success.
 
Strengthening the Family Circle – An 8-week program offered to assist with building strategies and healthier relationships in the family.
 
Keep it Cool – An 8-week program offered to assist with anger management.
 
Home visits – Staff meet in the office or client’s home to establish a relationship and assist with everyday living.
 
The Good Food Box – Ordered monthly.
 
Food Distribution – Located at the Rama Veterans Clubhouse to provide assistance on a monthly basis to on-reserve clients.
 
Traditional Sharing Circles at MKES – Offered at MKES from Grades 3 to 8.
 
Traditional Community Socials – Held monthly  from November to May.
 
Community Drop in Program/Coffee Club – Weekly program provides an opportunity for learning and socializing while participating in fun activities such as crafts/outings and more.
 
Sweat Lodge Ceremonies – Offered on an as needed basis.
 
Referrals and Treatment options – Assists in referrals to treatment programs and detox centres.
 
Pre-Natal and Post-Natal Support – Provide education and information around pregnancy, after-care and assistance with child development and positive parenting.  Baby & Me Program also available.
 
Rainbows and Child Services – A program offered to children ages 4 to 13, who are struggling with loss and grief.
 
Healthy Indigenous Male Program – ‘I am a Kind Man’ Group – Offered weekly.
 
Ontario Works Program – Open daily on the lower level of the MASK. The program offers a variety of services to provide financial supports and programs designed to enhance each clients’ personal skills while encouraging clients to work towards meaningful, full-time employment.
 
We are located on the Upper level of the MASK at 6147 Rama Road. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are some evenings that the office will remain open for programs and groups.
