Contributing to Society

Oct 17, 2014
Our business generates significant economic benefits for the countries in which we operate and for the communities close to our assets.

The communities living close to our operations are our workforce, our future employees, our business partners, our suppliers and our neighbours. We engage closely with them and work hard to maximise the positive impacts of our activities and to minimise any potentially negative effects.

We work in partnership with governments, local authorities, community representatives, inter-governmental and non-governmental organisations and other interested stakeholders to develop significant economic benefits in the countries in which we operate.

As a committed member of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), we work with national and regional governments to improve the transparency of revenue flows and to strengthen the governance of these funds for local, regional and national development.

We use local contractors and suppliers where possible, for services and supplies that include maintenance, catering, transportation and basic construction materials. We pay these partners commercial rates for supplying goods and services within agreed timescales.
