Henvey Inlet First Nation

Daycare

Feb 25, 2021

Henvey Inlet First Nation Daycare opened its door June 1999. It was an idea that took a few years to see completed and up to Ministry of Education standards. With humble hearts and sincerity of HIFN Daycare came to be a realization.

Through the 20 years that we have been here there have been many, many changes. In our leadership, guidelines, policies, government, staffing etc. But our one constance has been the community's children.

Throughout the years I have seen three generations come through our doors. And with each generation there has been change, for the better and a brighter future for our children, grandchildren, and future generations. But with the change: there has come with a lot of hard work, teamwork, and a lot of willingness to learn. About ourselves, our children, our community, and keep an open mind and understanding of the changes that come our way.

Our Daycare is kept open yearly due to a small staff of workers and a willingness to make the children of the community a priority.

Our Goal here is to provide a caring, supportive, home like atmosphere. A place where the children can learn, play, interact and enjoy being a child.

Learning is the eye of the mind!
When educating the minds of our children, we must not forget to educate their hearts!

The Daycare posts monthly calendars of our topics for the month, along with articles of interest for parents and caregivers. Yearly we ask parents /caregivers to update the children's files for Ministry guidelines. Our staff are always updating their own qualifications also, but remain close to our cultural ways, and learning something new each day thanks to the children.

The HIFN Daycare and it staff encompass the Ojibway cultural as well as all the different cultural of Mother Earth. We are learning to embrace the wholistic way of life and that embraces a relationship with all living things.
