Delaware Nation Day School

Feb 4, 2021

The Delaware Nation’s Day School offers a full day program which delivers the Ontario Curriculum to the community’s Junior and Senior Kindergarten students. A team of Early Learning – Kindergarten teachers lead the children through a program focused on learning through play and hands-on experiences in the physical environment and through play activities. Such activities are designed to encourage children to think creatively, to explore and investigate the world around them, to solve problems and to share their learning with others.  The Day School program also provides Lunaapeew Language instruction through-out its play-based learning, which builds upon the language skills developed at the Delaware Nation Early Learning Centre.

The Delaware Nation’s Day School is located inside the historical Moravian School building, which was built in 1950, making it one of the community’s oldest buildings. When it opened, local newspapers described it as being ‘the best one-room rural school in the province.’
