Important Changes To DOT Urine Drug Testing Effective October 1, 2010
Regulation has been established by the US Department of Transportation that requires laboratories to test for additional substances, as well as implement decreased cutoffs for existing substances. This enhanced drug testing panel will become mandatory as of October 1, 2010. For those of you that perform non-DOT testing the changes will be effective November 1, 2010 for all non-DOT tests.
Our laboratory is fully equipped to offer these new mandated services and will continue to meet or exceed all testing standards. With these additional services, our lab will incur added costs that are being passed on to DriverCheck. In the past, DriverCheck has done its best to absorb costs such as these so that your company does not see any increase in our fees. Continuing with this tradition, we are pleased to offer these additional enhancements to your testing program at NO ADDITIONAL COST to you.
The information you need to understand the enhanced panel can be found by clicking the links below. Should you still have questions after reading this, please do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-463-4310 and ask for our Results Department.
What does the Enhanced Urine Drug Testing Panel include?
The enhanced drug testing panel includes testing of new substances as well as reduced cutoff levels for existing substances, including:
• Mandatory testing for “Ecstasy”, “Eve”, and other similar drug family members (MDMA, MDA, MDEA)
• Mandatory testing for heroin at the screening level
• Lower screening and confirmation cutoffs for cocaine and amphetamines
What are the new cutoff levels of the Enhanced Drug Testing Panel?
New changes are highlighted in Red

Is there an impact to my Drug and Alcohol Policy?
We understand that you have internal policies and procedures that may require revision based on these changes. We encourage you to review your drug and alcohol policy and update any areas that may be affected by these new standards.
We do not expect an impact for most policies as the new drugs tested still fall under the broad categories of the existing 5 panel drug test. By example, Heroin falls under the Opiate Metabolites panel and Ecstasy falls under the Amphetamines/Methamphetamines panel. Where your policy may need revision is if it references classes of drugs or specific cutoff levels without flexibility being built in that allows for amendments from time to time to reflect current and/or updated standards.
