The Beausoleil Education Department is responsible for the administration of all educational areas for Beausoleil First Nation. This includes the Christian Island Elementary School, Beausoleil Day Care Centre, Mna Bmaadzijig (formerly Latchkey) Program, Secondary Students, Post-Secondary Students, Alternative Education Program and the Lorna Sandy Resource Centre/Public Library.
 
Mna Bmaadzijig (formerly Latchkey) and Daycare Programs
 
The Mna Bmaadzijig Program provides supervision of children in addition to the Beausoleil Day Care Program. We cater to the needs of children aged 44 months to 12 years who attend Christian Island Elementary School. We provide a safe and positive learning environment that is family oriented and enables children to interact with different age groups. We also give them opportunities to learn about their culture and language, and develop gross motor skills, independent thinking and decision making processes.
 
Program Hours of Operation
Morning Program - Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 8:50 a.m.
Lunch Program - Monday - Friday 1:00 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.
Afterschool Program - Monday - Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
*March Break, PD Days, and Summer Program hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. - Noon.
 
At the Mna Bmaadzijig Program, children have the chance to participate in crafts, games, drama, cultural activities, sports, karaoke time, science experiments, sensory activities, a homework program, computer use, and much more.
 
Activities are planned based on individual and group needs. A nutritious snack is provided daily during the After School Program. The Latchkey Program is a nut free zone. Parents are reminded to read labels to be sure there are no traces of nuts before sending their child's lunch.
 
Eligibility Requirements
  • We accept new enrollments throughout the year depending on the number of spaces available.
  • We accept children who are currently enrolled in Christian Island Elementary School.
  • We give priority to children of working parents or parents attending school or training courses.
 
Beausoleil Day Care Center
 
The Beausoleil Day Care Center is a child focused environment. We aim to make children feel comfortable in the environment by learning through play. The children will experience physical, creative, cognitive, social, emotional and self-help skills. License for 30 children ages 18 months to 5 years of age.

Secondary School Studies
 
The Beausoleil First Nation works cooperatively with Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board (SMCDSB) to ensure the best possible education for our children.
As part of our commitment to academic excellence, we have the following services available to secondary school students:
 
  • Academic Advice/Assistance
  • Financial Assistance
  • Liaison with Schools, Principals and Administrators
  • Encourage student involvement in School
  • Liaison with Parents
 
Post-Secondary School Studies
 
Post Secondary Education Assistance is provided to eligible Beausoleil First Nation post secondary students to enroll in and Study in eligible post secondary programs of study within the limits of funds voted by parliament.
 
Adult Learning
 
Adult learning is available in Chimnissing and students are able to learn in a classroom environment. If you are interested in upgrading or getting that elusive Grade 12 diploma, please call us to sign up!
