The Education Committee is made up of 2 Councillors and 3 community members. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month to work on policy, programs and student services to meet the changing needs of our students and families.
 
The committee’s term is 2 years and members are chosen by Chief and Council.

Early Years
 
Day Care facilities are offered at Aamjiwnaang Binoojiinyag Kino Maagewgamgoons Day Care and JK/SK Preschool.  To discuss enrollment for the above programs call 519-344-5831.
 
The Culture & Language Teacher holds a variety of workshops that allow parents and their children the chance to experience culture and language in the classroom such as a tiny tot dance program, regalia making workshop for parents, teachings on smudging, a water walk activity and moccassin making.

We offer a fulltime Junior Kindergarten School Program at Aamjiwnaang Binoojiinyag Kino Maagewgamgoons Day Care and JK/SK Preschool.

Adult Education Program
 
The AACE program can assist you to upgrade your skills though the Literacy and Basic Skills Program (LBS) or to get your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through the Credit Granting Program.
 
Classes are held at the Resource Centre (adjacent to the Band Office) and is open:
 
Office hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
Instructor available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:30am-2:30pm
 
Literacy and Basic Skills Program (LBS)
 
The LBS program helps adults, 19 years of age or older, to achieve their goals through support and training.  In the LBS classes we will work together to take care of the whole person.
 
We will work one on one with you as you choose your goal path

  • Apprenticeship
  • Independence in today’s world
 
We will then work with you to develop a learning plan that you are happy with, that will meet your goals, and be relevant to you.

Credit Granting Program
 
The Credit Granting Program helps adults to earn their high school diploma. If you are 18 years or older and need to finish high school courses to get your Grade 12 diploma, we can help. For a lot of older adults who are eligible for maturity credits, they may be only 4 courses away from their diploma. Is that you? Come speak to an instructor.
 
If you are need of grade 9 and 10 credits you could be eligible to take the PLAR Assessments and have a jump start to getting your diploma! Talk to the instructor and start today!

Bus Driver – Student Transportation

The Aamjiwnaang First Nation Education Department is currently seeking a school Bus Driver, to provide transportation to students who reside on the Aamjiwnaang First Nation and attend the Kindergarten program, public school and other educational institutions.

Housing Case Manager

This position is responsible for establishing permanent housing and supporting Indigenous and other Housing Clients who have a serious mental illness and are homeless or at risk of being homeless. 

Personal Support Worker (PSW)

To deliver homecare to the Aamjiwnaang First Nation community members. 

Human Resources Officer

Reporting to the Band Manager the Human Resources Officer is primarily responsible to support staff and management on policy interpretations and grievance matters; conducts recruitment and selection processes and provides progressive and expert HR guidance to all levels of staff on policy and legislation interpretation, providing solutions to a wide spectrum of complex HR issues.
