Skills and Employment Assets

As presented at the AGM, our Community has forged new relationships with the various school boards both local and outside of District of Thunder Bay with the assistance of Bimose Tribal Council.  From these new relationships the Community will be continuing its ongoing practice of utilizing those individuals who wish to participate in this program to submit a "Skills & Employment Assets Survey" which can be found by clicking the link below.  The program will provide educational knowledge from an Indigenous worldview. The opportunity allows members to share their skills, knowledge and experience with those students from the program.

Early Literacy Program

This program survey is available to all membership of Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation. The Early Literacy Program embraces the traditional practice of educating our children in the Ojibway language through the interaction of storytelling and sharing of experience. This survey is a tool which will be used to assist in the direction and responsibility to the program by those who wish to participate. Community embraces ideas and practices which foster growth and guidance of our children.  We are accountable through our presence in creating a safe inviting environment and opportunity for our children as they develop positive connections through program involvement and connection to language.

Adult Learning

This program has a great potential to assist our youth and adult learners who wish to obtain their Grade 12 or GED equivalence. The opportunity being provided will assist in maintaining financial security and elevate the education levels of our community members who wish to participate within this venture between Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation and Confederation College. The survey allows participants to identify what they need as well provides feedback to the Post-Secondary Advisor in assisting the participants in reaching their education goals.
