Eksa 'Okon:'a Childcare Centre

Eksa’okon:’a Child Care Centre shall provide for the children a safe, secure, culturally, and educationally appropriate environment. A “holistic” approach shall be taken to ensure that children may live in harmony with each other and Mother Earth within program limits. All children are seen as gifts from the Creator and are seen as unique individuals and will be treated as such by the caregivers.

Functions & Activities
 

The Eksa’okon:’a Child Care Centre has three program areas:

  • The Toddler program, accepts children who have attained the age of 18 months up to 2 years and six months of age.
  • The Pre-school Program, accepts children aged 2 years and 6 months up to 5 years. Children presently enrolled, who also attend Kindergarten, may maintain their position until the end of June, Jr Kindergarten to the end of September.
  • Before and After School Program – for children ages of 5 to 10 years who are students of Quinte Mohawk School.
 
Parents will supply pull-ups and wipes.
 
Programs & Services
 
Off Reserve Fee Subsidy
 
We provide Off Reserve fee subsidy to parents that qualify through a needs assessment to help with childcare costs at a licensed centre off territory. An appointment can be made with the Program Manager at the centre to fill out assessment forms.
 
General Child Care Services
 
In addition to providing general childcare services, the Centre also provides a wide variety of crafts, circles, indoor and outdoor play. Two healthy snacks and a full course meal at lunch- time are provided daily by a qualified cook.
