Steel Sand Hopper
Case Study Outline:
Application: Indoor steel hopper in large paving stone manufacturing plant. Liner installed in complete hopper.
Liner: Liner: TIVAR 88-2
Bulk Material: Coloured, moist sand and fine aggregates
Problem: Rat-holing, plugged discharge, and erratic flow conditions, cross batch contamination.
Background:
Large paving stone manufacturer was concerned about contamination between coloured batch changes and production slow downs..
Problem:
The sand mixture would adhere to the steel hopper walls and cause a plugged discharge. When another colour or batch was run old material would shake loose and contaminate new batch with wrong colour and moisture content.
Solution:
TIVAR 88-2 liners were engineered and fabricated to fit into existing steel hopper and discharge chute. Prefabricated, radiused corner profiles were also installed.
Result:
After the TIVAR 88-2 liners were installed, all the build-up and sticking problems have been virtually eliminated. Batch contamination is almost non-existent.
