Tbaytel Major League of Curling

Major League Tonight

Oct 28, 2015

Gary Weiss and his rink of Deron Surkan, Aaron Rogalski and Mark Beazley have the task of knocking off one of two remaining undefeated rinks as the Tbaytel Major League of Curling resumes play tonight 9 pm at the Port Arthur Curling Club.

The Colin Koivula and Mike McCarville rinks remain the only undefeated teams heading into draw four with Weiss matched against Koivula.

Koivula and his squad of Kory Carr, Jordan Potts and Jamie Childs will need to be on their game as they face a determined Weiss squad who are using the local competitive league to make a run at the Travelers Club playdowns this season.

Meanwhile, McCarville and his rink of Joe Scharf, Jordan Potter and Steve Whitehurst put their 3-0 record on the line against the defending league champions, the Scott Henderson rink. The Henderson senior squad is playing without their skip who is out indefinitely with a knee injury. They recuited another local veteran, Russ Mellerup, to fill in for Henderson in their last two starts. Mike Pozihun who throws skip rocks for the Henderson squad seems to be adjusting to Mellerup calling the game.

The Henderson and Weiss rinks are two of the three teams tied for third place with 2-1 records along with Krista McCarville.

McCarville returns from the Portage spiel hungry for a win, and knows that her women's squad will have to be up for the task as they take on Trevor Bonot and his mixed foursome, one of six teams sporting 1-2 records.

In other games, Al Hackner draws Ben Mikkelsen, while Bryan Burgess takes on Devon Doran will all four teams looking to get to the 500 mark. Liane Fossum and her mixed squad look to build on the momentum of their first win last week. They face the winless Chris Perozak junior squad to round out the week four schedule.
