Asbestos Laboratory

We are one of seven accredited Canadian laboratories for asbestos testing of bulk building materials by the US NIST, National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP Lab Code 101270-0), meeting ISO 17025 requirements, and we participate in the IRSST Quality Control Program for asbestos air monitoring samples (PCM).

• Bulk Sample Asbestos Analysis by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM using the EPA/600/R93/116 Method), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM);

• Air Sample Analysis  by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM using the NIOSH 7400 Method)

Environmental Microbiology - Internationally Accredited Testing for Moulds & Legionella.

Our microbiology laboratory is accredited for bulk, air and surface analysis of moulds and Legionella by the AIHA Laboratory Accreditation Programs (AIHA-LAP), LLC EMLAP (Laboratory ID#158835). The laboratory Participates in Legionella proficiency testing with LGC (UK) and HPA (UK).

• Legionella Laboratory - Pinchin comprehensively identifies, in water and swab samples, concentrations of Legionella pneumophila, its serogroups, other Legionella species and total concentrations of all Legionella bacterium identified.
Pinchin Environmental also offers Legionella consulting services.

• Moulds and Bacteria

Analysis of bulk, swab and dust samples for mould, spore trap samples and sewage-indicator bacteria by both culturing and direct microscope methods

Air sample analysis by culturing methods, with species identification of significant fungi.

Environmental Dust Analysis

Highly accurate environmental dust identification. Direct microscope analysis of environmental dust for particulates such pollens and other categories of particulates. 

Lead

On-site and laboratory-based analysis of lead in paint, air and bulk sample

• Measurement of lead in paint, air and dust with on-site non-destructive X-Ray Fluorescence instrumentation

• Analysis of lead in paint, soil, air samples and swabs with Anodic Stripping Voltamettry

Odour Laboratory

The Pinchin Odour Lab is dedicated to providing high quality analytical services in accordance with MOE and international standards. Currently, we continue to be the only Canadian odour lab to participate in the International Interlaboratory Comparison of Olfactometry, a proficiency assessment administered by OLFAtec in Germany.

We have dedicated facilities for both odour and emissions testing and analysis.

• All our facilities and procedures meet the following rigorous standards: American Society for esting and Materials (ASTM) Standard E679-91; European Standard Draft prEN 13725; Ontario Ministry of Environment draft standard for odour analysis

• Our olfactometer and panellist staging rooms are dedicated odour-free zones supplied by a filtered air supply and kept under positive pressure to improve ventilation and minimize ambient odour infiltration

NEHA-NRPP certified staff deliver professional radon testing and mitigation services.
