Michael Rotolo’s Blog, The Mad Cadder, on list of Top CAD Blogs

Feb 22, 2013

Michael Rotolo, who began The Mad Cadder in 2004, says he feels honoured to have made the list. His blog features news and links on Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Revit as well as the concept of BIM, and was started to help answer common questions being asked by clients.

“At the time I started the blog, I was providing training and technical support for AutoCAD, Revit and other CAD software with SolidCAD Solutions. When providing support I began to notice that many clients had common issues, so instead of continuously repeating the solution I decided to post the answer and refer them to my blog that included step by step instructions. I would also post interesting articles on how to implement and manage CAD software.”

“AutoCAD users are very committed to the software and are constantly looking for tips and ways to improve their processes,” notes Rotolo. “As newer technologies like Revit emerged and became more mainstream, a new generation of users began looking for information and tips that I was posting. Making it onto Curran’s list is an affirmation of the value of my blog’s content.”

Top CAD Blogs is a list compiled by Brian M. Curran a respected drafting consultant and business owner. Blogs are identified by their traffic rankings as cited by www.alexa.com. The rank is calculated using a combination of average daily visitors and page views over the past 3 months. The site with the highest combination of visitors and page views is ranked #1.”

The pool consisted of 70 blogs with Rotolo’s blog to be ranked 40th.

“I was very surprised to see that my blog was listed in the global top 40,” says Rotolo. “I have not been contributing as much as I had in the past, so it amazed me that I still had so many followers. With this ranking, I have renewed enthusiasm to post more tips and interesting information, but also information on how to manage the technology from a business processes point of view.”

Moving forward, Rotolo hopes his blog can continue to gain a following and provide support. “My blog is now connected with social media like Facebook and Twitter so it can reach a larger audience – the goal is ultimately to provide easy and accessible solutions to common problems.”
