What is HPPE?
HPPE stands for High Performance Polyethylene, a state-of-the-art material that has a very high tensile strength. By weight, HPPE is 10 to 12 times stronger than steel, making it an ideal fibre for making cut resistant gloves. The fibre is also extremely abrasive resistant, highly flexible and can quickly absorb, disperse and dissipate body heat. In effect, gloves made from this material will feel much cooler than those made from other materials. In the long run, durability and performance are what make RONCO DEFENSOR gloves vey cost effective; however, comfort and dexterity are the most obvious benefits that users appreciate. Cool all-day wear ensures that a wearer never ends up sacrificing safety for comfort. NOTE: Gloves made with HPPE are "cut resistant", not cut proof.
 
Are RONCO cut-safe gloves only resistant on the coated palm side, or all over?
RONCO DEFENSOR 3 and 5 gloves are entirely cut resistant. These gloves are made with a High Performance Polyethylene (HPPE) liner and a water based PU coating on the palm and fingers. While the HPPE provides cut resistance to the whole hand (front and back), the PU coating provides grip and extra protection to the palm. Both of these glove models are excellent choices for industrial applications involving hand held knives and blades. While the DEFENSOR 3 is medium duty, the DEFENSOR 5 is for heavy duty non-food applications. Please be sure to note that these types of gloves are cut resistant and not cut proof. Their use is not recommended with moving or serrated blades
 
What do the markings and numbers mean on some RONCO industrial gloves?
Some RONCO industrial gloves have a hammer shield logo with numbers printed on the back. These are known as CE mechanical ratings that indicate the gloves have been tested for their levels of resistance to abrasion, cut, tear and puncture using the European Standard EN388. CE stands for Conformité Européenne, meaning European Conformity. 
 
Does RONCO sell a glove that is both cut and chemical resistant?
Chemical resistance in a glove is twofold: firstly, the material must resist various types of chemicals; secondly, the gloves must not have any pinholes or ruptures that will allow permeation. Only gloves that are scientifically tested to meet both of these conditions are technically rated as chemical resistant gloves. There are, however, gloves that do not meet both criteria but that are still sound for use with light chemical splash action or light dry chemicals. Ask a RONCO product specialist for more details. Most manufacturers are hesitant to technically rate a glove as both cut- and chemical-resistant. It is more common to find a cut-resistant glove with a chemical resistant coating (full coat or palm coat) such as nitrile. RONCO DEFENSOR 2 is a cut-resistant glove made with aramid fibres and a nitrile palm coating. We also offer double dipped PVC gloves and neoprene gloves which are chemical but not cut resistant.
 
Where are RONCO products manufactured?
Our gloves and protective apparel are manufactured primarily in China and Malaysia. Ronco's polyurethane aprons, sleeves, and gowns are manufactured in Canada.
