Q? What is ROPS?

A. ROPS stands for Roll Over Protection Structure

Q? What is FOPS?

A. FOPS stands for Falling Object Protective Structure.

Q? What is the difference between Internal/External ROPS?

A. There are many differences between the two styles of ROPS. The greatest determining factor for which style is best for you should be Vehicle Application. Where is the vehicle being used and/or what is the vehicle being used for? With this in mind, a TopROPS team member can help you choose the style that’s right for you.

Q? Is the External ROPS safer than an Internal ROPS?

A. Both Internal and External ROPS are designed with the same goal – to maximize the survival space for the vehicles’ occupants during a roll over event. Vehicle Application will help determine the design that’s right for you.

Q? How does a ROPS work?

A. The matrix is designed to absorb and/or redirect impact forces away from the operator/passenger area during a roll over event. This helps prevent compression of the survival space for the occupants. The greatest amount of survival space equals the lowest potential for fatalities during a roll over event.

Q? Can the ROPS be transferred from one truck to another?

A. The ROPs may be transferred to another vehicle if the vehicle is within the same design years from the manufacturer. We would advise if you are thinking about changing the ROPS from one vehicle to another, please give us a call to confirm the ROPS can be transferred. Call us at 1-800-267-4728.

Q? In the event of a Roll Over with one vehicle, can I reuse the ROPS for another vehicle?

A. If the ROPS has been involved in a roll over event it should not continue to be used, or be transferred to another vehicle. It will require a thorough inspection by a TopROPS specialist to determine if the unit should be considered for re-installment. After the unit has been recertified, it may be put back into service. We would advise if your vehicle has been in a Roll Over event and you want to have the ROPS inspected or re-certified, please give us a call to confirm the ROPS can be transferred. Call us at 1-800-267-4728.

Q? If my vehicle is involved in an accident that is not a Roll Over Accident, is it still safe to transfer the ROPS to another like vehicle?

A. If the ROPS has been involved in any impact scenario, it will require a thorough inspection to determine if recertification is required. We would advise if your vehicle has been in an accident and you want to have the ROPS inspected or re-certified, please give us a call to confirm the ROPS can be transferred. Call us at 1-800-267-4728.

Q? Can I have my company logo put on the ROPS?

A. The current ROPS design in not intended to accommodate additional logos. However, we would be willing consider this option upon request.

Q? Can I have the ROPS painted to my company colours?

A. Yes, we can accommodate requests for most paint colors.

Q? Do I have to drill holes in my truck frame?

A. No. We use the existing mounting holes the vehicle manufacturer uses to mount the truck box

Q? How much space do I loose in the cab of the truck with an Internal ROPS?

A. As designs differ from vehicle to vehicle, there is no definitive answer. With each design, it is our goal not to impede accessibility or comfort for the operator / occupants. At TopROPS, we strive to make the ROPS as unobtrusive as possible.

Q? How much space do I loose in the box of the truck with a ROPS installed?

A. The ROPS is designed so that the cargo area between the wheel wells remains unimpeded. Overall, the ROPS will occupy the first four inches (approx) of the truck bed directly behind the cab.

Q? I do not see my vehicle style in any pictures on the Website, does that mean you do not make them for my style of vehicle?

A. It just means we have not had the opportunity to showcase a vehicle of that type. In such an event, we would ask our valued customer if TopROPS could showcase our product on their vehicle. This could assist future customers in visualizing their vehicle style with a TopROPS ROPS.

Q? How much does an External ROPS weigh?

A. The standard Entry Level External ROPS unit is three hundred and fifty pounds. The weight of each style will vary according to the vehicle.

Q? How much does an Internal ROPS weigh?

A. Internal designs start as low as one hundred pounds. The weight of each style will vary according to the vehicle.
