CANADIAN COMPANY WINDSOR SALT THANKS ITS EMPLOYEES AND GIVES BACK TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Jun 16, 2020
Pointe-Claire, QUEBEC – June 16, 2020 – Windsor Salt is grateful to its employees for continuing to operate the company’s salt production sites and for performing essential roles at other company locations during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and has provided a one-time bonus of $700 to all full-time production site employees. The company is also donating $150,000 to Canadian nonprofit organizations in the local communities where it operates during this time of need.

For generations, Windsor Salt has been trusted to flavour food, soften water, keep winter roads clear and safe and support business and industry – including producers of food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and health care products, cleaners and disinfectants and more.

For the essential products they produce, Windsor Salt was granted permission to continue its operations during the COVID-19 pandemic with enhanced protocols to protect the health and safety of company employees while providing essential salt products from the brand that consumers, customers and communities count on.

“We’re so proud of the dedication, consistency and continued efforts our employees have shown through this pandemic, and it was important for us to show them our gratitude for their valued service” said Jean-Baptiste Dromer, Senior Director, Mining and Manufacturing. “It’s also critical for us to act in solidarity with Canadians and to do our part to help make a positive difference during these unprecedented times. We will continue to support the communities where we live and work, and continue to meet the needs of the consumers, businesses and industries that depend on our essential salt products.”

Employee Support

To recognize its employees’ efforts, Windsor Salt has provided a one-time bonus of $700 to all full-time employees working at its salt production sites.

With the health, safety and well-being of its employees as the company’s top priority, Windsor Salt continues to follow best practice recommendations of leading health authorities including the Public Health Agency of Canada and the World Health Organization, and the appropriate guidelines and regulations set forth by local government entities and health organizations where it operates.

Local Community Support

This year, Windsor Salt has donated $150,000 to nonprofit organizations that provide essential support to those most in need during this challenging time, including $50,000 to the Food Banks Canada, $50,000 to the West Island Solidarity Shares, and $50,000 to support local communities where it operates. In addition, the company has donated food-grade culinary salt to La Tablée des Chefs to support their effort to produce more than 1.6 million meals for the Food Banks of Quebec.

“Windsor Salt is proud to have been in Canadian kitchens and communities for more than 125 years, and we are proud to support our neighbours in need during this challenging time through donations to food banks across the country and charities on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic in our hometown of Pointe-Claire,” said Michel D. Prevost, Sr. Sales Strategy & Planning Manager.
