Xylem Recognized for Sustainability Initiatives

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., September 12, 2013 – Xylem Inc., a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, announced today that it has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the second year in a row in recognition of its ongoing sustainability initiatives.  The company also announced that it has joined the Ceres company network as part of its commitment to continuously improving its sustainability performance and disclosure.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) follow a best-in-class approach, including companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics. RobecoSAM, an investment boutique focused exclusively on sustainability investing, invites the world’s 2,500 largest companies (by free-float market capitalization) to report annually on their sustainability performance. The result of the Corporate Sustainability Assessment provides an in-depth analysis of economic, environmental and social criteria, such as corporate governance, water-related risks and stakeholder relations, with a special focus on industry-specific risks and opportunities.
