The Health Centre is committed to helping protect the health and safety of our employees, and to serving our community. We are closely monitoring the changing situation and complying with public health guidance. The front reception phone line is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
 
We have reduced the hours the Health Centre is open to the public to Friday only, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. You can visit the Health Centre on Fridays during these hours to pick up medications, cheques and hand sanitizer.

The Nawash Health Centre promotes healthy lifestyles that strive to reflect the spirit of Neyaashiinigmiing. The services of the Health Centre are available to all Chippewas of Nawash residents and band membership. At the Centre we deliver programs that promote health and prevent disease. In partnership with other community programs, we offer regular workshops and activities that are geared towards healthy living and a greater sense of well being for all of our clients.
 
We offer a prenatal nutrition program, a monthly physician's clinic, foot care services and medical transportation. The chronic disease prevention program is aimed towards the prevention of diabetes, heart disease and cancer. The communicable disease program helps control the spread of vaccine preventable diseases. The environmental awareness program involves water sampling and testing for West Nile Virus. The Chippewas of Nawash Health Centre is part of the Emergency Response team that is capable of dealing with emergencies whenever the health of it's residents is threatened. It is staffed 5 days a week with a registered community health nurse and community representatives.
 
Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN)
 
OTN is a two-way videoconferencing system that provides patients with access to care at all hospitals and hundreds of participating health care locations across the province. Using this convenient technology we can save you the time and cost of travelling long distances for appointments with your Health Care Provider (HCP). OTN appointments with your HCP also reduce your risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
 
The Health Care Centre boardroom is equipped for OTN videoconferencing. Contact the Health Centre to make your appointment.

Home and Community Care Program
 
The Chippewas of Nawash Home and Community Care Program is based on a holistic approach, which will provide service to any Chippewas of Nawash Band Member in the community who has a physical, emotional, mental or social need for assistance in order to contain living independantly in their community. The Home and Community Care Loan Cupboard is available to program clients to provideshort term loan of homecare equipment and supplies as needed. They have a specialized vehicle to provide transportation for shopping for seniors, disabled community members and Home and Care clients twice a month. There is also a Hot Meal Program that provides one congregate dinner per month and one lunch time meal delivery per month. The Home and Community Care Program has one Home Care Nurse who assists with providing home care assessments, case management and home care nursing.
 
Community Support Services Program
 
The Chippewas of Nawash Community Support Services Program has a variety of supportive services for the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation.  These services play a critical role as complements to in-home and other formal services and to the assistance provided by family and friends. The Chippewas of Nawash Community Support Services provide the following support services;  Meal services in conjunction with the Hot Meal Program we provide delivery of hot meals and congregate dining; Emergency Response Systems Support  is offered in a Healthy Safe environment aimed at promoting and preserving the wellness of seniors; and escorted transportation is offered to all program sponsored activities. Caregiver Support provides information, education and training that will assist the caregivers and support staff to provide care and emotional support to the client. The service is provided in group or individual sessions.
 
Homemaker
 
The main goal of the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation Homemaker Program is to enable the community members to remain as independent as possible in their own home and community by providing a professional home care service. The Homemaker Program provides homemaking services to individuals to establish and maintain a more healthy and safer home environment. They work directly and cooperatively with the individual, family and other community services to assist those to achieve maximum independence appropriate to their situation.
 
The Homemaker Program provides assistance to those needing personal care as required by the individual or family in carrying out normal functions of daily life such as; eating, washing, dressing and activities which enhance their feeling of well-being. All care provided is client centered and flexible to meet the individual needs of each client and/ or family. The Homemaker Program also provides regular and support Homemaker staff, this covers Personal Support Worker training and Enhanced Skills Training under ministry guidelines.

Health Services Manager (Band Member Preferred)

The Health Services Manager ensures policies and procedures are followed, assists to develop new programs and regularly evaluated programs to ensure services are compliant with the funding requirements as agreed through the health agreement and other funding agreements. 

Senior Gate Attendant

The Senior Park Gate Attendant is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Park Registration Office, assists with the financial management of the Park and directs the delivery of related services. 

Senior Administrative Officer

Provides support to the Chief and Council with intergovernmental affairs, political  advocacy and support.
