Aboriginal Healthy Babies/Healthy Children (HBHC) 
 
  • Supports for pregnant women and families with children 0-6 years 
  • Home visits by nurses and other home visitors help expectant and new parents with having a healthy pregnancy and birth, breastfeeding, nutrition, child development, and being a parent
  • Offered once a month
 
Diabetes Education Program  
 
  • Information about living with diabetes
  • Includes monitoring, blood sugar levels, food choices, exercise, medications, education, foot care and lifestyle choices
 
 
Home and Community Care 
 
  • Supports for older adults, and adults with disabilities
  • Helps people remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible
  • Culturally appropriate services for Aboriginals
 
Foot Care 
 
  • Basic and advanced foot care in the client's home
  • Foot care includes care of corns, calluses, fungal nails, and filing and trimming of nails
 
Community Health Nurse  
Promotes community and public health * supports the delivery of holistic programs and services within the community * focuses on promoting health, preventing disease and injury and protecting population health * nurse on-site offers a walk-in clinic
 
Home Maintenance
Referrals to local services such as snow removal, yard work, window washing, house cleaning and minor repairs
 
In-Home Personal Support 
Supports for the activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping
 
Medical Transportation Program
Coordinates medical transportation services and assists with medical appointments in other communities

EDUCATION COORDINATOR

Under the supervision of the Manager, Health and Social Services, the Education Coordinator provides counselling, guidance, referrals, and funding support, to all Michipicoten’s elementary, secondary, and postsecondary students, both on and off reserve.

BAND REPRESENTATIVE and CHILD ADVOCATE

Under the supervision of the Manager, Health and Social Services, the Band Representative and Child Advocate is a highly motivated individual with exceptional advocacy skills, possessing critical knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (Ontario).
