Programs and Services
 
HEALTH EDUCATION:
 
The Health Centre provides a wide variety of Health Education Activities which focus on the needs of the community. Staff are available for one-to-one discussions or to address groups and numerous health topics.
 
IMMUNIZATION:
 
Our Community Health Nurse is available by appointment or on a drop in basis for regular immunization and TB testing. Immunization clinics to protect against influenza are held each year. Immunization is offered in the school at intervals.
 
SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES:
 
The Community Health Nurse (CHN) makes regular visits to the Antler River Elementary School, and the Early Years Program. Health related topics are presented to the children on a scheduled basis.
 
HOME VISITS:
 
Home visits are offered to provide health teaching and counselling on individual or family basis. If you feel you require a home visit please call the Health Centre. All staff are available for home visits on request.
 
FOOTCARE PROGRAM:
 
With the high incidence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease in our community, foot care has become a vital part of our health care program. The foot Doctor is available the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1-3 pm. Please call to make an appointment.
 
BLOOD SUGAR/BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING CLINICS:
 
We also offer screening of blood sugars, blood pressure and weight checks during our special clinic days and on a drop-in basis.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM:
 
The purpose of the Environmental Health Program is public health, safety and education. Working together, the Environmental Health Officer and Health Staff monitor our community for hazards that may affect our health and safety through a variety of activities, such as Rabies Clinics, Water Sampling, Home Assessments, Carbon Monoxide testing, etc.
 
COUNSELLING SERVICES:
 
Alcohol use, addiction, family violence, depression, grief and loss are just a few of the issues and feelings that may be affecting you or someone else you love. Being able to talk to a qualified person about it can and does make a difference. Taking the first step can be difficult, but we are here and would like to help. 
 
NON-INSURED HEALTH BENEFITS ADVOCACY FOR CLIENTS:
 
The NIHB program provides supplementary health benefits, including prescriptions and non-prescription drugs, medical equipment and supplies for registered Indians throughout Canada. If you need help to determine what benefits are covered or help in obtaining a benefit, please call the Health Centre Clerk.
 
CANADAS PRENATAL NUTRITION PROGRAM:
 
The CPNP program offers a variety of education classes related to pregnancy and nutrition. Prenatal classes for both mothers and fathers offer factual information, discussion, films, relaxation techniques and more. The goals of the program are to enhance nutritional requirements during pregnancy, and to provide breastfeeding support in a culturally appropriate manner.
 
LOAN CUPBOARD MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT:
 
The Health Centre offers a variety of medical equipment available for community members to borrow, such as crutches, bath chairs, wheelchairs, etc.
 
HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE PROGRAM:
 
Home and Community Care services are provided to all clients in need of home medical care. The program focuses on assisting community members to remain in their own homes while promoting their independence and recovery or rehabilitation.
 
Chippewa Health Centre community and Family Resources:
 
A wide range of health programs and services are offered to suit the needs interests of every family member. Services range from lending video and reading resources to counselling.

Youth Justice Strategic Analyst

The Youth Justice Strategic Analyst will play a key role in developing policy and programs that ensure the human rights of youth are protected, lead to empowerment for youth, and aim to prevent youth from entering the criminal justice system.

Violence Prevention Researcher

The successful candidate will be expected to use extensive research methodologies to gather data, analyze the data, and present the findings, specific to the field of violence prevention, inclusive of sexual and gender-based violence.

Assistant Cook

The Assistant Cook is responsible for menu planning, purchasing of groceries and supplies and daily preparation of nutritious meals and snacks served to the children, staff, and families enrolled in the program /or attending Child & Family Early ON programming.
