  • Provides health awareness, education and prevention workshops and seminars for all ages
  • Hosts an annual community Health Fair at the Valhalla in Thunder Bay
  • Coordinates the Good Food Box program
  • Conducts home visits and offers support for children aged 0-6 years of age
  • Offers body composition analyses
  • Provides a health video library available to community residents
  • Publishes a bi-monthly health newsletter "Biiboon" available on website or at Health Office
  • Operates a toy lending library
  • Provides referrals to additional services
 
Good Food Box Program
 
  • Operates a community-based food purchasing system that makes fresh fruits and vegetables available to community members
  • Offers all the groceries/ingredients needed to make a healthy meal along with the recipe
  • Provides a bi-monthly newsletter with healthy recipes, storage tips and helpful information as well as locations and times of Food Box program

  • Beardmore - Health & Finance Office (next to Band Office)
  • Geraldton - Legion (Main St)
  • Thunder Bay - Oliver Rd Community Centre
 
Holistic Wellness 
 
  • Offers a variety of programs and services to address the health and wellness of families and community environment
  • Promotes healthy individuals, families and communities
  • Provides culturally appropriate support services, resources, educational materials, and workshops to address community wellness needs
  • Endeavors to improve the quality of/access to, culturally appropriate resources, services and education
  • Provides initiatives to address family violence
 
Program activities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Social events including Recipe Bingo
  • Fitness activities
  • Cultural crafts and workshops
  • Coordination of family events including children's days and Christmas dinners
 
Medical Transportation Program
 
  • Responsible for processing Non-Insured Health Benefits Service claims and coordinating medical transportation for community members
  • Submits medical appointment travel, mileage, meal and accommodation requests on behalf of individual
  • Assists with making travel arrangements
  • Maintains client documentation, receipts and related information
  • Provides transportation to medical appointments within the community and medical appointments out-of-town in Geraldton and Thunder Bay
