Jordan's Principle

Jordan's Principle is a child-first principle ensuring First Nations children get the services they need, when they need them, no matter where they live in Canada.

Under Jordan's Principle, we can:

  • inform families about the help available for their child and how to access it
  • coordinate access to products, services and supports
  • provide funding when it's needed to make sure products, services and supports are accessed without delay

Examples of the services covered by Jordan’s Principle include, but are not limited to:

Health - Mobility aids, Wheelchair ramps, Services from Elders, Assessments and screenings, Medical supplies and equipment, Mental health services... and more.

Social - Social worker, Land-based activities, Respite care (individual or group), Specialized programs based on cultural beliefs and practices. Personal support worker... and more.

Education - School supplies, Tutoring services, Teaching assistants. Psycho-educational assessments, Assistive technology and electronics... and more.

Nurse Practitioner

Medical care services are provided every Friday to registered clients and implemented by the Nurse Practitioner. Those unfamiliar with this role in the health care system, a Nurse Practitioner can examine patients, diagnose illnesses, provide counselling and education, write prescriptions, order lab tests / draw blood work on site, and refer to specialists when necessary. Nurse Practitioners also work with other members of the healthcare team  including traditional healers, dietitians and social workers to make sure you get the best care possible.

Foot Care Clinics

Our foot care service is available to members who require regular foot care due to diabetes, at high risk  foot health problems. Foot care problems may include foot deformities, skin/nail problems or a medical condition affecting foot health.
Foot care clinics are provided in 30 minute sessions and within a five-week time interval. Clients wishing to register are required to book appointment by calling the event registration line at 519-329-0456.
