Human Rights

Jul 28, 2020

We are committed to our affiliates in the promotion and implementation of Human and Business Rights, based on the Guiding Principles of the United Nations, the National National Plan of Action on Human and Business Rights, the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and the Policy of Human Rights of the mining-energy sector.

The Guiding Principles are the global standard of conduct that guides states and companies in the development of business activities and consist of:

  1. The duty of the state to protect Human Rights.
  2. The responsibility of companies to respect Human Rights.
  3. Improving redress for victims of abuse.

In 2015, Colombia was the first country in Latin America and sixth in the world to have a Human Rights and Business Action Plan promoted by the mining sector.

Although the mining sector is strongly committed and this is recognized worldwide, every day it faces very great challenges. Therefore, we promote and participate in the Human Rights and Coal and Human Rights and Gold Groups, which meet monthly.

Developing actions that can be executed collaboratively between the institutions and companies to strengthen the implementation of the UNP and PV in the coal sector and contribute to the development and updating of the PNA, as well as the Human Rights Policy of the mining sector.
