Engaging industry to support our mandate since 1994

Make a difference far and wide

For the last 25 years, a large part of Mining Matters success has been achieved because of the commitment, contributions and partnerships of numerous companies, associations and individuals from industry. We are proud to support one of Canada's most important natural resource sectors by working with those who share our vision of bringing accessible Earth science programs and initiatives to the general public.

We encourage everyone to explore this site to learn more about the many ways to get involved in supporting our organization. Ongoing industry involvement means we can continue to provide current information about the importance of rocks, minerals, metals and mining in everyday life and the diverse career opportunities available, for many years to come.

Help spread the word far and wide that mining makes it happen!

Mining Matters develops and implements its programs with the help of financial sponsorship, donations and in-kind contributions from the mineral and aggregate industries, individuals, foundations, corporations and government. This funding is the foundation that allows us to continue with our important work. Our success depends on the commitment of the many companies and individuals who share our vision of bringing Earth science to life. With your support, we continue to provide current information about the importance of rocks, minerals, metals and mining in everyday life and the diverse career opportunities available in the minerals industry to students, educators and the general public.  We thank our partners for their generous support.

“Skookum” Couple Race to Support Mining Matters

Glenn Nolan and Maureen Hatherley will be embarking on their 3rd Yukon River Quest!

The annual race will take them along the Yukon in support of Mining Matters education and outreach programs. Nolan and Hatherley are described as “skookum” people—strong, impressive, excellent, good, powerful—all meanings for “skookum”. And they invite you along for the ride…at least in spirit!

Nolan and Hatherley will tackle the The Yukon River Quest, a marathon canoe and kayak race that challenges paddlers from around the world to test their endurance, racing 715 km miles, day and night, from Whitehorse to Dawson City.
Passionate about mineral education, they ask members of the mineral industry to sponsor their race by donating to Mining Matters, supporting Earth science programs designed to teach Canadian students, teachers, and the public about the importance of Canada’s mineral resources. “Raising funds to support Mining Matters is a small way Maureen and I can give back to an industry that has done so much for so many," says Glenn.
