Kirkland Lake Campus

Nov 3, 2020

The School of Welding Engineering Technology at the Kirkland Lake Campus keeps building on its international reputation as a leader in the field of welding education and training. We were the first in North America to become an authorized training body for the International Institute for Welding (IIW). The IIW is recognized in 56 countries! Kirkland Lake rarely sees a dull moment. From award-winning festivals to concerts by the hottest musicians, Kirkland Lake knows how to entertain. In fact, the community’s biggest festival of the year, Winter Carnival, is so jam-packed with excitement that it was recently declared one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals by Festivals and Events Ontario. Kirkland Lake’s Annual Homecoming is no slouch either, attracting amazing musicians like The Sheepdogs, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Trews and Sam Roberts. Imagine being able to see your favorite bands in a venue where even in the back row the artists feel up-close and personal.

When you’re not busy attending local events, you may want to check out Kirkland Lake’s athletics facilities. You’ll find tennis courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a golf course, curling club, skate park and even a 1,000 seat arena. The community is home to active hockey, soccer, baseball and figure skating leagues, providing year-round sports entertainment! Fans of non-competitive athletics will also feel right at home, with access to the beaches of Crystal Lake and the campgrounds of Esker Lakes Provincial Park. Need we even mention the hunting, fishing and power-sport opportunities?

Kirkland Lake features a bustling downtown and shopping mall. You’ll also find Hockey Heritage North, a museum that serves as a monument to the area’s history of creating strong NHL players and all around love for the sport. Kirkland Lake is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Quebec border, making it a breeze to hit up all of the excellent shopping and activities in Rouyn-Noranda.
