Learn Projects
CMIC works with organizations to align projects to industry needs, discuss innovative ideas and share these insights with Members. Examples of projects and organizations we are working with are below.
Academia
Metal Earth – is a new Canadian research initiative funded by Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF). CMIC developed the Exploration roadmap defining industry needs for the proponents of Metal Earth.
TERRENET – the NSERC SNG funded consortium project addresses the technical and social challenges associated with responsible resource extraction. CMIC provided guidance on the focus for this project.
HI-AM – The Holistic Innovation in Additive Manufacturing (HI-AM) Network has been formed to work on innovative solutions to address challenges and to prepare Canada for the era of Industry 4.0 and “digital-to-physical conversion.” CMIC provided connections to potential industry and supplier companies.
BRAIN CREATE – This training program focuses on how the brain functions when pushed to the limits by geographic, environmental and biological extremes. Trainees will play critical roles in revamping and modernizing traditional industries with brain-centric innovations. CMIC is providing strategic and tactical advice on relevant areas of interest to the mining industry.
Government Advisory Roles
NRCan, GMIAC – CMIC is a member of the Green Mining Initiative Advisory Committee providing advice to the program based on industry needs and future plans.
NRC, EME – CMIC is a member of the Energy, Mining and Environment program of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) providing advice from an industry perspective to the program.
GSC, TGI – CMIC is a member of the Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI) of the Geological Survey of Canada, a branch of the federal department, Natural Resources Canada. CMIC’s role is to provide guidance to the Geological Survey of Canada on the plans and implementation strategies of the existing TGI ore system projects to enhance outcomes and facilitate industry uptake of TGI innovations.
