Kevin S. Crutchfield

PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
 
Kevin S. Crutchfield joined Compass Minerals as president and chief executive officer (CEO) in May 2019. He is also a member of the company’s board of directors and serves on the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Committee.
 
Mr. Crutchfield has more than 30 years of mining experience. Prior to joining Compass Minerals, Mr. Crutchfield served as CEO and member of the board of directors of Contura Energy Inc., a publicly traded, leading coal supplier, since the company’s inception in 2016. Previously, he served as chairman (from 2012 to 2016) and CEO (from 2009 to 2016) of Alpha Natural Resources Inc., a coal producer. From 2003 to 2009, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Alpha Natural Resources. Prior to Alpha Natural Resources, Mr. Crutchfield spent over 15 years working at El Paso Corporation, a natural gas and energy provider, as well as other coal and gas producers. He also served on the Board of Directors of Couer Mining Inc. from 2013 to 2019.
 
Mr. Crutchfield earned a Bachelor of Science in Mining and Minerals Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He also completed the Executive Program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
 
 
Mary Frontczak
 
CHIEF LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER AND CORPORATE SECRETARY
 
Mary Frontczak joined Compass Minerals as chief legal officer and corporate secretary in November 2019. She was named chief legal and administrative officer and corporate secretary in February 2020. In this role, Ms. Frontczak oversees all human resources and legal affairs for the company, including employee relations, organizational alignment, corporate governance, commercial matters, merger and acquisition activity, litigation oversight, corporate compliance, intellectual property, and labor and employment law. Ms. Frontczak also leads the company’s focus on ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace.
 
Ms. Frontczak brings to Compass Minerals nearly three decades of legal, governance and management experience in both the mining and agribusiness sectors. Prior to joining Compass Minerals, Ms. Frontczak served as senior vice president and general counsel at POET, an ethanol and other bio refined products producer. Prior to POET, she headed the legal department at Bunge North America, an agribusiness and food ingredient company. Additionally, she held various leadership and legal positions at Peabody Energy Corporation and The May Department Store Company, as well as managing commercial litigation matters with private firms early in her career.
 
Ms. Frontczak holds a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Louis University and a Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Washington University John M. Olin School of Business in St. Louis, Missouri.
 

Brad Griffith

CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER
 
Brad Griffith joined Compass Minerals as senior vice president, plant nutrition, in August 2016. Leveraging his three decades of sales and marketing experience, he was named chief commercial officer in July 2019. Mr. Griffith is responsible for leading all commercial and innovation activities for our salt and plant nutrition businesses, as well as logistics and customer service.
 
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Griffith spent eight years working at Monsanto Company, a global provider of agricultural products, most recently in the role of vice president, global strategic accounts. He brings valuable agribusiness experience in the areas of product development, new product commercialization, sales and marketing, and global strategy. While at Monsanto he was responsible for fostering relationships with key customers. Previously, Mr. Griffith had a lengthy career in pharmaceutical and medical sales, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, most recently at Sanofi.
 
Mr. Griffith holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Washington University John M. Olin School of Business in St. Louis, Missouri.
 
 
George Schuller
 
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
 
George J. Schuller Jr. joined Compass Minerals as chief operations officer in September 2019. Mr. Schuller is responsible for managing global operations across the salt and plant nutrition business units. He utilizes 30 years of experience to ensure safe and reliable production and to maximize the value of our strong asset base.
 
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Schuller worked in senior management roles in both surface and underground mining operations. Most recently, he served as president of Peabody Australia. There, he led Peabody’s operating platform. This included overseeing the areas of health, safety, operations, sales and marketing, product delivery and support functions. Prior to that, he held the post of chief operating officer, Australia.
 
Mr. Schuller holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Mining from West Virginia University. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Charleston. George also received an honorary Doctorate in Engineering from West Virginia University for his contributions to the mining industry.
 

Jamie Standen

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 
James “Jamie” Standen was named chief financial officer (CFO) in August 2017. In this role, Mr. Standen is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, tax, internal audit, treasury, financial planning and analysis and investor relations. In addition, Mr. Standen leads our information technology services and global sourcing and procurement functions.
 
Mr. Standen has been with Compass Minerals since 2006, when he joined the company as assistant treasurer. He has held positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president, finance and treasurer, and interim CFO and treasurer. In addition to his leadership of the Plant Nutrition South America finance function, Mr. Standen led all capital market transactions, managed all commercial banking relationships, oversaw financial risk management and the corporate financial planning and analysis team, and executed the financial analysis of merger and acquisition opportunities. He also served on the company’s investment committee.
 
Prior to joining Compass Minerals, Mr. Standen spent six years in various finance roles at Kansas City Southern and spent two years with the public accounting firm Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C.
 
Mr. Standen earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting with an emphasis in finance from the University of Kansas.

Maintenance Supervisor

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in a the mine. 

Geologist

This role functions with a high degree of autonomy and reports directly to the Manager, Mine Development, within the Mine Engineering department.

HR Business Partner - Canadian Plants

As a strategic partner, the HR Business Partner aligns business objectives with employees and management at the Canadian manufacturing facilities, and serves as a consultant to the local management teams on Human Resource related issues.

Capital Projects Buyer

This position is primarily responsible to support Capital Sourcing for the Canadian Business Units.

Environmental Health and Safety Systems Coordinator

The person in this position is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Environmental Health and Safety Management System at the Goderich Mine.

Accountant Operations

Responsibilities encompass operations, capital and financial reporting including variance analysis. 

Mine Supervisor

Following the mine plan, the Mining Supervisor is accountable for the safe, efficient and quality of work performed by the Mining Team.
