Mining Drilling Services

Traditional and Specialized Drilling

Tervita has over 30 years of experience in the mining services industry. We offer unique expertise in the application of both traditional and Reverse Circulation rotary drilling techniques.

Reverse Circulation rotary drilling systems use a flush jointed dual wall drill pipe. This approach introduces highly pressured air (foot ft/sec), which flows down the outer pipe and bore annulas, enabling soil and rock returns to be instantly lifted to the surface via the inner pipe annulas. This prevents cross contamination of soil and rock samples with the bore wall;, samples are logged at an exact depth and bore wall erosion is eliminated.

The direct benefits of Reverse Circulation rotary drilling include:
• continuous, virtually uncontaminated representative samples of geological formations, even when drilling through caving or eroding formations
• zero loss of circulation and therefore no loss of geological sample integrity
• air, water or a combination of both can be used as drilling fluids, eliminating contamination
• the elimination of drilling mud, meaning no waste management or environmental impact
• the ability to drill through overburden formations using the ODEX Eccentric Casing Advancing System
• the drill bit sub fits over body of drill bit, enabling borehole cutting with minimum clearance and no loss of drilling fluid (between dual wall drill pipe and wall of bore hole)
• immediate results – sample returned from drill bit to surface in under one (1) second (air pressure = 3000 – 5000 ft/sec)

Tervita currently offers Mining Drilling Services in Canada. Please contact us if you have a requirement beyond this geography and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.
