Chippewas of the Thames First Nation

Notice from Council

Mar 17, 2020
This notice is to inform you that at an emergency Council meeting called on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Council passed a Band Council Resolution declaring a local state of emergency. Please see the attached Band Council Resolution.

Council passed the BCR for the following reasons:
1. To take proactive action to protect community members
2. To access outside funding to support response
3. To access help from outside organizations, as required

This means that part of the Emergency Response Plan will now be activated along with the Community Control Group (CCG). The Emergency Response Plan will be posted on to the members section of the website on March 18th, 2020.

The CCG is a group of officials who are responsible for coordinating provisions of essential services necessary to minimize effects of an emergency on the community. The CCG will be meeting daily to assess the situation.
The Communications Coordinator will update the community via social media and the website daily at 3 p.m., even if there are no new updates.
This best thing to do at this time is to stay at home. Limit your exposure outside of your immediate family.

What is encouraged:
- Going for walks
- Smudging
- Exercising outside or at home
- Go through drive-thrus restaurants
Enjoy the outdoors, but really practice social distancing.

There are no confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus in Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.
