Geological Association of Canada (GAC)

Newfoundland and Labrador Section

Jul 22, 2020

We exist as a local group composed of members of all segments of the geoscience community, and many of our members are members of the National Body of the Geological Association of Canada. Membership in the National Body is not a requirement for membership in the Newfoundland and Labrador Section, but it is strongly encouraged. We organize a technical conference every year (generally in February) and an annual field trip (generally in September or October). We also publish the "Travellers Guide to the Geology of Newfoundland and Labrador", and other publications such as field trip guides. Each year we organize some social functions according to demand and enthusiasm. Our overall mandate is to provide a focal point for the growing Newfoundland and Labrador Geoscience Community, so that its members can get to know one another, understand the activities of different sections of the community.
